U.S. Democratic Politicians to NOT be ashamed of - S/D

I honestly don't follow this shit like I should and need a jumping-off point.

Who is outspoken? Righteous? Uncompromising?

Who is flaky? Corrupt? Not even a shadow of their campaign promises? Seen limping out of K Street hotels, their clothes in disarray as the commuters arrive for work in the morning?

Have at it.

By the way, don't want this to be one of those "Things Men Think About Other Than Sex open-it-up-and-all-the-pages-are-blank-har-har-har" kinda threads.

The US Politics threads make for excellent bathroom reading.

See, I kinda created this thread to be sort-of a guide to that one. I can never follow what's going on there, plus I'm under the impression that I'd have to read Glen Greenwald everyday and shit.

while he's not very high-profile, my congressman, maurice hinchey, is an extremely dependable progressive whom i'm almost always proud of. it's particularly impressive/important given the fact that my district is not especially progressive itself

"not very high-profile" is okay!

Oh yeah, Feingold, no doubt. Great example.

rush holt and frank pallone are the two best that NJ has to offer. i've also always liked senator lautenberg.

Barbara Mikulski! Love her. Boxer's not so bad either.

Mikulski, of course! Should slap myself for not thinking of her.

My rep, Earl Blumenauer, is pretty good. He reps for the local voter reg group by constantly wearing a little flourescent bicycle on his lapel, which, along with his bowtie, give him a slight Doctor Who vibe.

My two senators, Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkeley, don't suck.

Peter DeFazio, D-OR is who I wish were my rep. He has his positions dialed in to the very heart of populist, working-class liberalism. OTOH, I live In Oregon's swing district and therefore must settle for a very business-friendly MOR rep, Kurt Schraeder, who walks on eggshells around any liberal issues.

I've got nothing bad to say about Tammy Baldwin, D-WI.
