katie, Friday, 9 August 2002 07:15 (twenty-two years ago) link

Alan (Alan), Friday, 9 August 2002 07:44 (twenty-two years ago) link

katie (katie), Friday, 9 August 2002 07:46 (twenty-two years ago) link

I am in a certain temporal mind function right now.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 9 August 2002 07:48 (twenty-two years ago) link

I went to Beerfest and drank of many fine ales and yet my life is not even remotely ruin like. Has my mechanism finally gone?

RickyT (RickyT), Friday, 9 August 2002 08:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

you bought me beer! awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. i have managed to avoid the hangover all this week and now it has caught up... stupid mechanism.

katie (katie), Friday, 9 August 2002 08:22 (twenty-two years ago) link

The ruin approaches. I have started feeling very unusual indeed.

RickyT (RickyT), Friday, 9 August 2002 08:48 (twenty-two years ago) link

how can it be the ruin if you feel unusual?

mark s (mark s), Friday, 9 August 2002 08:53 (twenty-two years ago) link

unusual always comes before ruin, mark!

katie (katie), Friday, 9 August 2002 08:58 (twenty-two years ago) link

My "my life's a ruin"'s a ruin. How has it come to mean nought but a dreary hangover? I sob for the meme as a mother cries for her wayward child.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 August 2002 09:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

blimey timH has turned into Emma!

katie (katie), Friday, 9 August 2002 09:04 (twenty-two years ago) link

It's not unusual to feel ruined in anyway.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 9 August 2002 09:10 (twenty-two years ago) link

er, hein?

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 August 2002 09:18 (twenty-two years ago) link

Hein indeed. Hello everyone!

Emma, Friday, 9 August 2002 09:57 (twenty-two years ago) link

I would not dare to sully the My Life's A Ruin meme - but there really wasn't any good reason for me to go bouzing til 2.30am in the upstairs Spanish Bar yesterday. Though I did get in a very strange argument with a Zimbabwean from Herne Hill about how silly my Spitfire looked in a French style stubby bottle.

Pete, Friday, 9 August 2002 10:06 (twenty-two years ago) link

Spitfire in a French style stubby bottle - how did it fit? I mean I know you can kittens in glasses but how on God's green Earth could you get a world war II aircraft in a bottle?

jel -- (jel), Friday, 9 August 2002 10:12 (twenty-two years ago) link

but jel the earth is green no longer hélas

mark s (mark s), Friday, 9 August 2002 10:15 (twenty-two years ago) link

God's blue earth?

jel -- (jel), Friday, 9 August 2002 10:22 (twenty-two years ago) link

It was beer, silly. Though I would have much rathered a pint of kitten.

Pete, Friday, 9 August 2002 10:22 (twenty-two years ago) link

Pete likes nothing better than a night spent rathering a pint of kitten.

Emma, Friday, 9 August 2002 10:31 (twenty-two years ago) link

I'd rather Jack.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 9 August 2002 10:57 (twenty-two years ago) link

I think "rathering a pint of kitten" is the filthiest thing I've read today. Yay Emma!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 9 August 2002 12:17 (twenty-two years ago) link

Clearly the spirit of the new board is alive and well. :-)

Recover quickly, Ms. Katie! You will pleased to know that I have a DVD of a Certain Hobbit Movie that arrived in the mail, yay me.

On a general note, and speaking of hobbits, I was taken out to a three-hour meal at a place called the Hobbit last night. No, it was not a single story place with round windows. It WAS a combination of a kick-butt wine cellar, everything from ostrich roulettes to seared escolar, and utter gastronomic delight. :-)

Looking at those dopey-looking mugs, satisfaction definitely wouldn't bring them back. They look dumber than N'Sync (if possible). Bonus points for the beret, though. More boy bands should wear berets.

Frank Spencer, lead singer.
That one in the black shirt looks disturbingly like someone I had an argument with last year - it started over me finding Nick Cave a bit of a Romantic, and ended with him shouting at me: 'FOR FUCK'S SAKE MAN - HAVE YOU GOT CIRRHOSIS OF THE HEART????'
(I think he actually meant 'sclerosis' - but that's what cirrhosis of the brain will do to you.)
