well john c reilly doesn't seem to be involved, so not really, no
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 April 2011 21:08 (fourteen years ago)
I wasn't sure if you meant that just in general or for this particular movie. I assumed the former, and for that you got the "u mad". But if the latter, I dig.

i just don't dig him in comedies in general
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 April 2011 21:12 (fourteen years ago)
what
― mh, Thursday, 14 April 2011 21:12 (fourteen years ago)
I thought you were one of the Stepbrothers stans.
― 'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 14 April 2011 21:13 (fourteen years ago)
no i HATE stepbrothers!
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 April 2011 21:14 (fourteen years ago)

talladega nights/step brothers are prob my two least favorite will ferrell comedies if you don't include recent stuff like land of the lost & the other guys which i didn't see but assume aren't very good
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 April 2011 21:16 (fourteen years ago)
you are insane
Haha ok, had you confused w/ someone else. I didn't hate it, but its not that great either.
Anyway, back on topic, this looks like it could be consistently hilarious or a really long slog between funny.

hmm. mi reacción inicial es que el uso de temas mexicanos como una especie de remate en sí mismo parece de explotación. pero supongo que el compromiso de usar el español en todo (con subtítulos en Inglés) para este mitiga un poco.

YEAH YEAH

del OTM
concept seems roughly analogous to that Jack Black Mexican wrestler movie which was also crap
― in my world of ugly tribadists (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 14 April 2011 21:19 (fourteen years ago)
except for the fact that jack black isn't in the movie which imo is a huge difference
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 14 April 2011 21:20 (fourteen years ago)
this looks amazing

stuff like land of the lost & the other guys which i didn't see but assume aren't very goodthe other guys was really good! (surprisingly i think)
― just sayin, Friday, 15 April 2011 11:34 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah, the other guys was possibly the funniest movie of 2010.
― Tuomas, Friday, 15 April 2011 12:03 (fourteen years ago)
And Land of the Lost has its moments too, if you like movies where the plot is mostly irrelevant and the film-makers obviously just wanted to have all sorts of weird shit happen onscreen.
― Tuomas, Friday, 15 April 2011 12:08 (fourteen years ago)
don't you mean "del EED"??
― jaymc, Friday, 15 April 2011 12:18 (fourteen years ago)
that was a pretty bad trailer - seemed to be afraid of embracing the concept which is why we got a lot of action montage instead of showcasing the gags (it is a comedy, right?). felt like a fake trailer you'd see on funny or die. i liked the SPECIAL EFFECTS title card though.
also the other guys was good!
― cum dude (Princess TamTam), Friday, 15 April 2011 12:39 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah, The Other Guys was so funny, very unexpectedly.
― 'what are you, the Hymen Protection League of America?' (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 15 April 2011 14:50 (fourteen years ago)
why so "unexpectedly"...? trailer looked hilarious.

as inconsistent as Will Ferrell movies in general are, there is a fairly high baseline of quality for all the ones Ferrell co-writes with Adam McKay

think they'll re-do the mama tambien love scene?

Note quite as great as it could have been, but still quite a few laughs ("love scene" and "spirit journey" scenes esp. good.) Bernal also consistently hilarious smoking his Canadien Golds.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Saturday, 4 August 2012 14:14 (thirteen years ago)
yeah i thought it was pretty funny. i was a little nervous in the beginning when i saw it was written by white guys, but it turned out cool. i saw it with a mexican audience and they laughed at all these things i didnt even get, like this part where a guy who looked like mexican george hamilton appeared onscreen and everyone in the theater gasped and pointed at him, which owned. and the theater burst into applause when will ferrell said "not all mexicans are drug dealers" at the end
