unknown or illegal user, Saturday, 17 August 2002 06:59 (twenty-three years ago)

they are ok, but they get all stuck in your teeth and such>

ron (ron), Saturday, 17 August 2002 08:44 (twenty-three years ago)

i like those things! but yeah they do tend to get stuck in yr teeth and then you can't talk. i used to buy them every day when i came home from school on the bus cause they only cost a dollar at the diary opposite dads work and then i'd sneak them in.

It's weird that you started this thread because I was just at Emily's and we were having a fight because she was trying to make me eat milk duds even though she doesn't like them.

maryann, Saturday, 17 August 2002 11:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Milk Duds num. Duane, you must learn to accept the goodness. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 17 August 2002 14:21 (twenty-three years ago)

jeez do americans eat anything good ever?

No, pretty much all the food here is on the level of Milk Duds. We Americans are so very jealous of the English.

Sean (Sean), Saturday, 17 August 2002 14:26 (twenty-three years ago)

there's an american equivalent of maltesers [malty balls covered w/ chocolate] but they taste FOUL. whereas maltesers are TASTY.

but I suppose most american chocolate tastes powdery or like it's melted and resolidified a thousand times. horrible aftertaste, yeah.

milk duds=disgusting.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 17 August 2002 14:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh for chrissake... yeah, Milk Duds are the pinnacle of American's attempts at chocolate making.

Sean (Sean), Saturday, 17 August 2002 14:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry if I sound pissy... I'm trying to answer every thread on the new boards and am becoming a bit peevish.

Sean (Sean), Saturday, 17 August 2002 14:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Milk duds always seemed a bit too waxy for my liking.

Nicole (Nicole), Saturday, 17 August 2002 14:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh for chrissake... yeah, Milk Duds are the pinnacle of American's attempts at chocolate making.

what does this mean? is it sarcasm? are you putting into words what you think I was inferring and pretending to agree with it? or is it the truth?

that isn't what I was inferring. if it's the truth then it's also a shame.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 17 August 2002 15:06 (twenty-three years ago)

aye, that would be sarcasm then. btw: the malt balls are called 'whoppers' and they are on the nasty side. i probably think so because of the malt, so i doubt i would like any candy like this. but maybe i need to try a malteser

ron (ron), Saturday, 17 August 2002 15:49 (twenty-three years ago)

what does this mean?

If you were saying all American chocolate tastes powdery or resolidified, I was responding that that wasn't true, albeit it in a sarcastic way. My follow-up post was an attempt to apologize for the sarcasm. Sorry for the confusion.

Sean (Sean), Saturday, 17 August 2002 15:50 (twenty-three years ago)

oh, I don't mind a bit. but I didn't say all, I did say most. most of the american chocolate I've had. it just doesn't seem to be up to the british standard! maybe it's a cultural thing. or something like that.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 17 August 2002 15:55 (twenty-three years ago)

What's the deal with French milk chocolate? It's as bitter as fuck.

Christopher Lyons, Saturday, 17 August 2002 16:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Good chocolate is always bitter

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Saturday, 17 August 2002 18:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha, this reminds me of the time N. ate 2 squares of 99% cocoa chocolate and couldn't speak for a full 10 minutes as he attempted to swallow the stuff.

Ally C, Saturday, 17 August 2002 21:04 (twenty-three years ago)

malt is the best!!! in the war my mum's favourite was called RADIO MALT!! that meant it was cool and modern and stuff, like ATOMIC CAKE or INTERWEB TIZER

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 17 August 2002 23:02 (twenty-three years ago)

oh i'd only heard of RADIO MALT thru the Molesworth books!

duane, Saturday, 17 August 2002 23:27 (twenty-three years ago)

The concept of radio malt pleases my soul. I demand a scan of the packaging.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 17 August 2002 23:51 (twenty-three years ago)

The hell? Even toddlers are better at swallowing solid food than that!

Nicole (Nicole), Sunday, 18 August 2002 00:23 (twenty-three years ago)

But it IS N. He was doubtless thinking of Ms. Kidman and got distracted.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 18 August 2002 00:25 (twenty-three years ago)

>>jeez do americans eat anything good ever?

Two thoughts:
Here in Paris, there is a store called "The Real McCoy" that imports American food for expats. I've only ever been past it when it was closed so I haven't been inside & only peeked in the window. It's a temple to all that is artificial & evil! A cornucopia of Oreos, marshmallows, cherry Coke, reduced alcohol beer, Paul Newman salad dressing, Betty Crocker cake mixes, etc. Do Americans really eat like that?

Also, the original post is pretty ironic. British food isn't exactly top of the charts either. (Memories of Marimite, *shudder*)

Miss Laura, Tuesday, 20 August 2002 09:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Nicole - YOU try eating 99% cocoa chocolate - GO ON

RJG - Stop saying inferring when you mean implying.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 20 August 2002 09:54 (twenty-three years ago)

you're inferring that I don't know the difference?

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 20 August 2002 10:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Hersheys 'chocolate product' = yuuuuuurgh. Dud as a Milk Dud. FOR GODS SAKE even their NAME contains the word DUD, whot more PROOF could you WANT eh eh eh?

Re: Malt - I must say that I like Maltesers but do not like Malt Vinegar. Then again I do not really like any vinegar unless I am making a VINEGAR CONCOTION for my sushi rice.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 20 August 2002 10:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I heard that in America the cheese is coloured orange. Why don't they just colour everything blue? It helps you to diet according to the TV.

maryann, Wednesday, 21 August 2002 03:08 (twenty-three years ago)

yes the cheese is sorta orange, it's nasty. the bread is unpleasant too & the milk tastes weird (altho it is pretty cool because it often says "HOMO milk" on the packaging). PS i am not british so stop telling me "british food ain't so hot either", yeah no shit.

duane, Wednesday, 21 August 2002 07:43 (twenty-three years ago)
