OMG Criterion had the nerve to infer these babies will be canon when they grow up. But where does Antichrist belong if not side-by-side with the Grand Illusion?

and I'm pretty sure I'm voting Summer Hours but not necessarily

Cosmo Vitelli, Friday, 22 April 2011 02:56 (fourteen years ago)

oh that was supposed to just be "Grand Illusion" dunno where "the" came from

Cosmo Vitelli, Friday, 22 April 2011 02:57 (fourteen years ago)

A Christmas Tale and Summer Hours are neck and neck for me.

Gukbe, Friday, 22 April 2011 06:07 (fourteen years ago)

Haven't seen Still Walking or Secret of the Grain, but Antichrist and Everlasting Moments are the only ones of these I don't like.

Gukbe, Friday, 22 April 2011 06:08 (fourteen years ago)

I've only seen X-Mas Tale (which I like lots), but I've got a netflix of Fish Tank over in the stack.

TBPH, I'm more excited about some of the IFC stuff in the pipeline (Carlos, the Errol Morris stuff, and yes, Tiny Furniture) than this initial batch.

Handjobs for a sport (C. Grisso/McCain), Friday, 22 April 2011 06:51 (fourteen years ago)

report back after you've seen the rest of these and Tiny Furniture

Cosmo Vitelli, Friday, 22 April 2011 06:55 (fourteen years ago)

I've seen Tiny Furniture...and Carlos...and Gates of Heaven.

Handjobs for a sport (C. Grisso/McCain), Friday, 22 April 2011 06:57 (fourteen years ago)

...and Certified Copy's playing here next month, but we all know what happened there...

Handjobs for a sport (C. Grisso/McCain), Friday, 22 April 2011 06:59 (fourteen years ago)

buzza, Friday, 22 April 2011 08:08 (fourteen years ago)

Cosmo Vitelli, Friday, 22 April 2011 08:10 (fourteen years ago)

Gukbe if it's between Xmas Tale and Summer hours definitely check out Still Walking and SotG immediately. A couple more diamonds in the Modern Family Ties genre.

Cosmo Vitelli, Friday, 22 April 2011 08:12 (fourteen years ago)

Simon H. Shit (Simon H.), Friday, 22 April 2011 13:25 (fourteen years ago)

Could a Mod save this thread from oblivion by correctly spelling "Criterion" for me?

Cosmo Vitelli, Friday, 22 April 2011 18:45 (fourteen years ago)

forks (forksclovetofu), Friday, 22 April 2011 18:59 (fourteen years ago)

tbh these all stuck with me except for Che, which seemed pretty expensive for a classroom video on historical military tactics.

Cosmo Vitelli, Thursday, 5 May 2011 06:51 (fourteen years ago)

gamorrah freakin owns

cum dude (Princess TamTam), Thursday, 5 May 2011 07:17 (fourteen years ago)

Handjobs for a sport (C. Grisso/McCain), Thursday, 5 May 2011 09:43 (fourteen years ago)

have seen all of these (except Antichrist, of course), and it's Hunger, easily.

resistance does not require a firearm (Dr Morbius), Friday, 6 May 2011 01:21 (fourteen years ago)

the Desplechin

scissorlocks and the three bears (Eric H.), Friday, 6 May 2011 05:20 (fourteen years ago)

All the ones I've seen above are better than Army of Shadows, The Rock, Dodeskaden, An Angel at My Table, Chasing Amy, Koko: A Talking Gorilla, Life of Brian, Benjamin Button, et al.

scissorlocks and the three bears (Eric H.), Friday, 6 May 2011 05:29 (fourteen years ago)

better than The Rock? smh

cum dude (Princess TamTam), Friday, 6 May 2011 05:30 (fourteen years ago)

placeholder (Lamp), Friday, 6 May 2011 05:32 (fourteen years ago)

i don't believe there are more than, like, 20 movies ever that are better than 'an angel at my table.'

(The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Friday, 6 May 2011 05:42 (fourteen years ago)

better than Life of Brian

ever the komedy konoisseur!

resistance does not require a firearm (Dr Morbius), Friday, 6 May 2011 06:34 (fourteen years ago)

by 'et al,' does eric mean that the polled films are better than anything currently on criterion?

(The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Friday, 6 May 2011 07:16 (fourteen years ago)

no he just means Armageddon, The Mikado, A Canterbury Tale, Life During Wartime, Salo et al.

Cosmo Vitelli, Friday, 6 May 2011 10:12 (fourteen years ago)

Morbius is wrong about Hunger being easily better than Summer Hours but I would forgive him if someone would film him MST3K style watching Antichrist.

Cosmo Vitelli, Friday, 6 May 2011 10:17 (fourteen years ago)

Okay, Fish Tank was really good.

Handjobs for a sport (C. Grisso/McCain), Tuesday, 10 May 2011 01:54 (fourteen years ago)
