T*mp*ulin in the Guardian

To save Katie's modesty, and in case no one has told her yet, I would note that T*mp*ulin's new single Give Me A Riot In The Summertime is featured on the Guardian's New Singles review page this week. Andrew Mueller says "T*mpa*lin, it has to be suspected, are on the verge of something," which is vague but certainly intended positively. Hooray!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 17 August 2002 11:57 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw that too, Well done Ktee!

chris (chris), Saturday, 17 August 2002 11:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I always found that band to be too 'Bell and sebastian' for my liking.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 17 August 2002 12:42 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah cause belle and sebastian invented pretty mostly acoustic music. they're more harvest ministers.

keith, Saturday, 17 August 2002 13:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Ktee will kick your ass.

Graham (graham), Saturday, 17 August 2002 13:24 (twenty-three years ago)

hooray indeed for ktee... but i think in posting, users should write T*mpa*lin to thwart Googlers, as Tom did on the Chart Pop thread.

Dave M. (rotten03), Saturday, 17 August 2002 14:02 (twenty-three years ago)

why should we thwart T*mp*ulin googlers?

DV (dirtyvicar), Saturday, 17 August 2002 14:04 (twenty-three years ago)

maybe she doesn't want throngs of fans asking her what kind of bass strings she uses... i dunno, i just remember her yelling at Tom on the Chart Pop thread. whaddaya want form me?

Dave M. (rotten03), Saturday, 17 August 2002 14:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Money?

nabisco (nabisco), Saturday, 17 August 2002 14:37 (twenty-three years ago)

anthony easton (anthony), Saturday, 17 August 2002 16:21 (twenty-three years ago)

T*m P*ulin himself (thwarting any googling Newsnight Review fans) is a big fan of T*mpaulin, isn't he? Except I'm sure he compared them with B*lle and S*bastian (thwarting googling French cartoon fans).

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 17 August 2002 18:19 (twenty-three years ago)

g**gle

Dave M. (rotten03), Sunday, 18 August 2002 03:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I inadvertently started the asterisks craze. I am so prou*.

b*w (bnw), Sunday, 18 August 2002 03:42 (twenty-three years ago)

You know Text Twist was in Saturday's Guardian Guide too. We shall take over, oh yes.

Anna, Sunday, 18 August 2002 17:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay. Maybe they're on the verge of shaking off those stupid Belle and Sebastian comparisons. The 'p*ulin will always mean more to me than Stuart Murdoch's lot, if only for the 3 minutes of heaven that is "My life as a a carcrash"..

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Monday, 19 August 2002 00:36 (twenty-three years ago)

katie (katie), Monday, 19 August 2002 06:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Good sentiments all. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 August 2002 15:05 (twenty-three years ago)

How can you resist a band where the bassist has a shiny metal ass? It's like Sigue Sigue Sputnik all over again!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 19 August 2002 15:09 (twenty-three years ago)

hehehe. it is very, very shiny!

katie (katie), Monday, 19 August 2002 15:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 August 2002 15:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 19 August 2002 15:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Buffed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 August 2002 16:19 (twenty-three years ago)

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 19 August 2002 20:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Timothy Spalding

(ps hip hip hooray for katie on her magical band getting mentioned in the guardian day)

jel -- (jel), Monday, 19 August 2002 20:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Now that would be rub.

ARGH. We have a new pun queen.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 19 August 2002 22:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Bugger me. So Katie is the bassist of Tompaulin. How bizarre. one of my best mates is in a band on Uglyman Records - he's the drummer from Bonebox, name of Tim Mullett.

That old six degrees of separation thing again I guess.

misterjones, Tuesday, 20 August 2002 12:35 (twenty-three years ago)

shhhhhhh!!! it's t*mp*ulin!!!!

Dave M. (rotten03), Tuesday, 20 August 2002 12:37 (twenty-three years ago)

DANG AND NED... oh never mind ;)

katie (katie), Tuesday, 20 August 2002 12:39 (twenty-three years ago)

(coo blimey also, small world eh mr jones?)

katie (katie), Tuesday, 20 August 2002 12:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Tell you what Katie, here's even bizarrer. ELliot Eastwick who presents that Granada show you were on a month or so back is my girlfriend's next door neighbour but one.

misterjones (misterjones), Tuesday, 20 August 2002 12:46 (twenty-three years ago)

DANG AND NED... oh never mind ;)

Hurrah! We have made Katie happy. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 20 August 2002 14:38 (twenty-three years ago)

*sniff* I'd like to thank my mom and dad first of all, because without them none of this would have been possible. I'd also like to thank the Academy, my wonderful co-star Ned, the director, the producers... All you have made this a very special experience for me. *tears up* T-thank you. *nods humbly, moves away from podium clutching statuette*

(offstage)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 20 August 2002 14:43 (twenty-three years ago)

What he said, of course, with appropriate name substitution. Yay us!
