i have a tattoo on the skin in between my thumb and forefinger. its 3 dots in a triangle thats supposed to mean 'mi vida loca.' it quite a popular tattoo on the west coast (you may notice ICE CUBE has one below his right eye) i did it when i was 16 because i thought it was funny. im not a gangsta or anything.

When I were a nipper, in (fanfare) 1977, we all decided we wanted SAFETY PIN PIERCINGS. So, at the back of HUMANITIES class, we each, including me, took turns to stick a safety pin thru our earlobes. The same safety pin as well. I can still remember the feeling of the pin sticking through the lobe into my thumb. I was 13. And stupid.

I remember a friend of mine's big brother had this same tattoo, he called it "the bum's mark", no mention of "mi vida loca".

A quick googling reveals this tattoo was once used as a sign self-identification among hobos/bums, and it was also used as "badge of honour" by sailors who'd sailed round the Cape of Good Hope.
