all are exquisite except for keno and slots.

video poker prob. should be an option.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 14 May 2011 02:53 (fourteen years ago)

Voted Hold'em, but it shoulda been listed as poker. Omaha is pretty big, and stud and draw aren't totally dead quite yet.

I assumed it was hold'em bonus, the table game.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 14 May 2011 03:02 (fourteen years ago)

not poker per se.

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 14 May 2011 03:03 (fourteen years ago)

Poker's not even included? I want my vote back.

man it is really hard to find a straight five-card draw table outside of the california casinos in my experience. they're there but hold-em has kinda taken over. I've never played Omaha & generally don't have the stomach for cards stakes in Vegas and it wouldn't matter to me anyway because for me it's all about the craps table

Blackjack cos it's not crowdsy, there's a limited douchery factor, there's strategy in the playing and not just the betting, and the odds are pretty much the best in the room if you know what you're doing.

don't really play but I love visiting the baccarat tables in casinos because of the glamour: fuckin hors d'oeuvres, men in jackets, James Bond type shit. I'm going to Monte Carlo in a couple of months just to absorb this atmosphere.

hold 'em over omaha & blackjack. blackjack odds are better, but I am more in my element w/ hold 'em (plus, I simply enjoy it a lot more). the idea of serious omaha scares me b/c of all the loose variables - from what I can tell, it is a bluffer's game full-stop.

I don't mess w/ games that are not card-related, tho playing craps or roulette (low stakes) for the lols kind of looks like fun.

I also wish ppl played more five-card draw.

Man, no offense, but the biggest douchebags in the casino are at the blackjack table. Only time I had a guy scream in my face over a hand was when I was playing at the Blackjack table. I understand it's kind of a weird mix of individual hands/we're all playing against the house deal, but hitting on 12 when the dealer has 6 doesn't deserve the double-veined spittle shout.

I voted for Roulette as most fun though poker or hold'em is my favorite.

if you consistently bed don't pass/don't come at the craps table you can reduce the house edge to 1.4% which I think are your best odds in the casino. However, you will feel like a gigantic dick just betting against the dice at a hot table all night, even if that's not really rational.

btw any ilxors who ever find themselves at a casino with me, I am a good craps teacher and a few simple rules will give you what is to my mind the best time that can be had gambling

Aerosmith, next time you are in Chicago, we should play poker at our mutual friend's studio.

Meanwhile, I love roulette and do not care about the house advantage because I've got this system see.

haha i always tell myself that this is why i play craps but a) i never actually stick to optimal strategy and b) i really only play because i like all the stupid terms for throws

My system: you look at the ball and see where it lands, and then you look at the ball and see where it lands in correspondence to the last number, and then you pick the next number based on that pattern, see. That, and just putting down a chip on the 11-12-13 line until you get that sweet 11-1 payday and then, if you're like me circa 1999, you leave that table and get some soft-serve at the buffet, take the shuttle back to the city, and buy yourself a swimsuit and a CD with the winnings and forever wear that swimsuit and listen to that CD thinking I won these things; I won.

yeah I can't stand to bet against the dice all the time because the one guy who's heard that's his best chance is always positioned right there at the don't pass corner and is a humorless unsmiling uptight looking motherfucker who can't join in with the life of the table and just sits there like a lump whereas all the guys betting with the dice on a hot roll are having a great time making money together

still as long as you're only using the center bets for tips, if you play the pass line with full odds & establish a couple of come bets & place the 6 and the 8 craps is just good times for the most part

Steven Tyler the Creator (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Saturday, 14 May 2011 13:38 (fourteen years ago)

Roulette is fun, because there's no way to play dumb - every bet is the same.

Craps, I don't think there's any real advantage to playing don't pass+odds vs pass+odds, so you're probably just as well off playing with the table. I generally just play Pass+odds, place the 6&8 and $1 dealer bets on hardways if the point is 4/6/8/10.
Last trip to Shreveport, playing stupid paid off, though - needed to leave to get dinner, put down $20 on hard 8 (ooops, point was 6), immediately hit. Next day, I joined my entire half of the craps table in betting $5 Yo's on the come out. Shooter made three interspersed with a couple of points. Then they made it a $10 table.

Blackjack is a little too nickel-dimey for me.

All the card games kind of suck - not much fun, the payoffs are weak.

If I come to the casino and decide to play under the illusion that I'm going to leave the place with as much/more money than coming in, then blackjack, definitely. If I come to the casino thinking money's not a problem and I just want to have fun, then roulette. Though I have to say blackjack tables are usually very entertaining, I've met very fun people there.
Would like to understand craps better though, because it always looks like that table is a blast.

Craps is pretty easy to play smart. It only gets complicated if you start making some unwise bets (one roll bets, hard ways, having a lot of money spread out around the table).
For your first time playing, put $5 on pass, then whatever amount you feel comfortable with as an odds bet (a lot of casinos offer 100x odds now - so you could bet $5/$500 if you want) - on 4, 6,8,10 you want your odds bet to be a multiple of five, on 5 and 9 an even amount ($6 or $10 or whatever you feel comfortable with).
