wasnt sure the best adjectives 2 use but i watched greenaway's 'the cook, the thief, his wife & her lover' earlier & michael gambon as the gangster is p incredible imo...

...he really reminded me of ben kingsley in 'sexy beast' (huh, both gangsters) which is 1 of my fav performances/roles

the other 1 in the same vein is nick stahl in 'bully'

idk something abt such a command performance & prob the fact that they're all total sociopaths w/ no conscious is v compelling when done right

It's been so long since I saw Charley Varrick, but I seem to remember Joe Don Baker's character being totally coldblooded. Seems like he pushes some innocent person in a wheelchair down a flight of stairs, and I'm sure that wasn't all.

Henry Silva's coked-up psycho in Sharky's Machine was pretty scary.

I haven't seen Charley Varrick, but sounds like a reference to Richard Widward in Kiss of Death--who'd be another good example.
