Blackwood has a touch of Windowlicker about her, if that's what you mean by 'something'.

One thing I learned from previous HoC visits is that even the nicest female MPs do not know how to dress. I was sitting there in my meeting, looking at all these people in these appalling separates while thinking BUYING CLOTHES THAT FIT IS NOT DIFFICULT.

mailbox of snakes (schlump), Wednesday, 18 May 2011 16:28 (fourteen years ago)

i considered that but the title is from the Daily Mail, the nominees are Tory scum, and i've been careful to note stuff about their interests so it's not just a beauty pageant unless the voter wants it to be

taking ilxers out with a flurry of butthurt (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 18 May 2011 16:33 (fourteen years ago)

maybe i am being harsh & that the problem is that there's a daily mail article along the same lines; it just seems like the kind of bullshit that is as bad to be seized upon & explored in jest as it is to be initially published. sorry, i've only skimmed, etc. i guess you can use the constraint of 'which of these tories is the grossest' to have a cool debate & all, it's just depressing that, as with 'blair's babes' or whatever it was, women-in-govt so easily lends itself to that kind of thing rather than being a non-issue.

mailbox of snakes (schlump), Wednesday, 18 May 2011 16:34 (fourteen years ago)

i agree, but i wd also argue that politicians themselves are largely responsible for reducing politics to superficiality and PR and as such it's kinda fair game to treat them at their own level

yeah but then, how much does it suck to be a woman politician, who has larger hurdles in gaining a position, & then has to put up with a shitty deal upon attaining such a role? i sorta think that this is outside 'PR', also; even being judged on a shallow, personal basis needn't necessarily incorporate gender or looks.
