Can really' short people be attractive?

I was fascinated by Teenage Dwarf last night. It shouldn't have been weird to watch them all together, doing like miniaturised versions of things we do (going out drinking, leering over girls, eyeing each other up on the dancefloor etc.) BUT IT WAS. And knowing it was just the same but smaller *yet ridiculous* made the bigger version seem ridiculous. I don't know if I can go on.

I couldn't make my mind up about it. It seemed as if nothing was actually probed in this programme. As a celebration, it was refreshing to see how little they seemed to care about their difference. But it never really asked what they thought about it all - i.e. when Nash was stood up. Never got to see them having lows.

Afterwards I kept thinking that I was a dwarf. Like after the penultimate night of Big Brother when I kept thinking that I was Kate and my fella was Alex only to be jolted back into reality and out of BB world. I was very tired.

funniest programme of the year so far, surely? ok so i should probably be ashamed of having laughed all the way through, but anyway. best moment: "i can't see through the peephole. on the other hand, if it's a dwarf on the other side of the door there wouldn't be any point anyway".

My sister has mild-dwarfism. It makes it very hard for her to buy long sleeved shirts and normal trousers and shoes - she's disproportionate in her limbs rather than petite. I never noticed any stares really, but it's always slightly embarrasing when we would go out for dinner as a family of size 6'4", 6'3", 5'10", 5'10" and 4'8" and the waitress would say to my sister - "How come you ended up so short, sugar?" She dates guys of average size, and the rest of everything else in her life is pretty much normal. She also dealt w/ the school teasing thing much much better than I did when I was 10-12. So I have a lot of respect for her.

Saw a Dutch documentary on little folks a while ago. One tiny woman was complaining that only tall guys asked her out -- she just wasn't attractive to other dwarves. Weird, because she was quite lovely in my tall opinion.

You're part of the problem Colin.

I thought the short girls were cute, but surely all tall-short relationships must be scuppered by fear of a) Short person thinking tall person is only dating them for novelty value b) Tall person thinking everyone (inc. short person) thinks they're only dating short person for novelty value.

Short guys are really, really cute but a lot of them seem willing only to date the 8% of the female population that is shorter yet than them.

There were a lot of people like this at my church---5'2" husband w/shorter wife and a cadre of reallly short kids.
