Inspired by a frightening episode summary linked by Josh on a Blackalicious thread on ILM.

I think this bit from an Emo Phillips interview sez it all:

Well, it's funny, because my mom was watching Touched By An Angel, and I came into the living room and said, "Why are you watching this?" I look at it, and there's a little black kid and he's an orphan and he's donated his kidney to a little baby that's born without a head and there's violins and I'm crying my eyes out for three seconds. So, TV, they know what they're doing. They know all the tricks.

It's like 7th Heaven without the comedy and with 10x the moralising.

a zine i saw once reimagined it as lesbian erotica, with roma downey longing for della reese's 'blessing'....classic.

I remember a pre-election interview with Dubya where they asked him what his favorite shows were, and he said something like "Well, I don't really have time to watch television, but I understand Touched By An Angel is one of the more interesting shows they now have."

Della Reese has such a golden throat, and a golden esophagus.

my friends call me 'touched by an angeline'. sometimes they call me 'touched by charlie's lost angeline at my table' who knows all those references? prizes if you do.

angeline, Thursday, 22 August 2002 11:36 (twenty-three years ago)

It would be classic if it were Touched by an Angel of Death, where an angel of death shows up and says "ha ha I am here to take you out like the trash! Gotcha suckah!" or something like that.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 22 August 2002 11:39 (twenty-three years ago)

i, unsurprisingly, know the references. what's the prize to name them?

angela (angela), Thursday, 22 August 2002 11:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Touched By Angle: 'Ewwww! Get yr butter greased paws off me, you woodenfaced moody vampire!'

I know them too. ANDREW WINS PRIZES. Oh wait, maybe not the "lost" bit. I played a show at a place called that though... the show unequivocally RULES.
