ok these were illustrations for the HOBBIT by Tove Jannson, but i had to remove the direct links to the pics (which makes some of the replies a bit meaningless now). Anyway I got a nice email back from the site owner so go look at his treasuretrove:

since my pages out there are on a free server, there's nothing special about them except for the advertisement banners and commercial popups. According to your description of your problem, I think you linked the images directly into your (or the board's) pages - this is exactly what the hoster doesn't like, because in this case no one would see the ads which feed him. Therefore direct image linking has been made technically impossible. This hasn't been caused by me - I'm just using that free web hosting service. So if you want to link my picture collection (what is all right with me, of course), you have to link the HTML pages*, but not the images directly, that's the whole mystery ;-)

*) Inside the pages, I have set an anchor called "#content" you can append to the page address(es) when linking - this will make browsers jump below the upper advertisement.

PS. Just some days ago, I succeeded in finding an old finnish copy of "Alice in Wonderland" with Tove's illustrations. It hasn't arrived yet - I'm very curious about it. Do you know if TJ made drawings for the second volume of "Alice" too?

yes i cannot see the pretty pictures! (some of them haf disappeared from the alice thread also). where do you get all these lovely pictures mark?

Katie, right click on the pictures and select properties and you will be given the website address for the pictures.

katie i get these pictures by using google-image and knowing the names of some of the artists!! (i found wanda gág by image-googling "rapunzel", for example...)
