naw its a really old post. the actual title qn is something banal & theres like three or four sentences of this girl rambling abt her terrible seeming life, hows shes really lonely & overweight &c, and then it ends with... "so does ne1 know a spell that will turn me into a mermaid?" idk the whole way its setup is super funny, especially cuz the mermaid thing is such a non-sequitur

If you go to the right places (esp. Cornwall, Wales and East Anglia) there are lots of churches that still have carvings of mermaids in them (though lots were destroyed in puritanical anti-pagan drives)

the new pirates of the carribean movie had mermaids, and since they chucked the knightley/bloomps characters i guess they felt like they needed a new attractive young couple to be in love. so they matched up a random priest guy and one of the the mermaids. look at these rosy-cheeked goobers:
