I saw one ep of the original in Oz and thought it was pretty funny.

i think that setting dark comedies in sunny places like LA is already a winning combination
add a sarcastic pot-smoking Dune-quoting man-dog and hey i'm all in

Hopefully Wilfred will have a cameo in The Hobbit.

the whole dog/man premise of the show is great but the whole ennui of the white man in the system fight club bullshit is pretty stupid

Apparently the US remake is v different from the Aus version.

xxxp I think the show has more distance from that than you're giving them credit for. i don't think you're supposed to sympathize with Elijah Wood.

mordy the entire ep was about wood bein a selfish directionless small dude kinda being pushed around in a big world and wanting to kill himself until he is shown how to live by a mandog

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Monday, 27 June 2011 00:06 (fourteen years ago)

think about the premise and you'll see why it's more of a parody of a 'fight club' type thing than that story itself. he's not being shown how to live by a badass brad pitt persona. he's being shown how to live by a mandog.

Mordy, Monday, 27 June 2011 00:43 (fourteen years ago)

what does a mandog know about living!

yeah, thought the short worked, could never get into an episode of the series

http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/tv-and-radio/wilfred-creator-hounded-by-past-assault-20110702-1gw3b.html

Jason Gann, who dons a furry dog suit to play the title character in his AFI Award-winning show, is being feted in Hollywood after the American version of Wilfred premiered to record audiences last week. The US version has earned him $US195,000 ($182,000) for a six-month season.
But at home he is threatening to go into bankruptcy if he is forced to pay the medical expenses of Joseph Hosny, a shuttle-bus driver bashed by Gann in a drunken frenzy at the Derby Day races in 2007.

yuoowemeone, Tuesday, 5 July 2011 09:41 (fourteen years ago)

I saw most of last night's episode having only seen a little bit of the show a couple weeks ago.

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Saturday, 9 July 2011 05:23 (fourteen years ago)

just thought dog man premise was good and man sad suburb was bad but then again it was off the first ep of a show that's not going to be about anything I'm reacting to

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Saturday, 9 July 2011 05:24 (fourteen years ago)

Was fairly entertained by the first two episodes. Now I just find it something I have to get through to watch Louie.

Gukbe, Saturday, 9 July 2011 05:33 (fourteen years ago)

this show is kinda hacky much of the time tbh

Clay, Saturday, 9 July 2011 05:54 (fourteen years ago)

biggest laugh last night for me was when they first cut to the guy watching porn next to him. I like the acting in the show - Wood is surprisingly good - and there are some good jokes and sight gags, but the plots have been pretty bad. boring. I've been watching it after Louie and it obviously pales in comparison.

rockapads, Saturday, 9 July 2011 06:04 (fourteen years ago)

It definitely benefits from the fact that it's the summer and nothing is on tv.

polyphonic, Saturday, 9 July 2011 06:06 (fourteen years ago)

why am i not surprised jason gann is a violent drunken asshole

fuck that guy and this show tbqh

white light/white btw (electricsound), Saturday, 9 July 2011 10:15 (fourteen years ago)

I thought the first episode was really funy, the guy who plays Wilfred is ace.

Locutus of Snorg (some dude), Sunday, 10 July 2011 02:24 (fourteen years ago)

enjoyed the first one, second one i found a bit blah. probably not going to keep up with it. n.b. i dislike or am indifferent to 99% of tv.
