Why do ppl hate "longboard" skatboards and the ppl that ride them?

i've seen this hatred on the internet.

i do not hate longboard riders. but i don't respect/idolize/lust after them inna larry clark style. longboards just aren't as cool or sexy, obvious exceptions being obvious. lotta dorky/normal looking people ride longboards (or just carry them around), where the punks and beautiful/wasted youths stick to street boarding.

Longboards can be good for transportation and are easy to ride arent they?

i only see them around in dinkytown so, if i thought about it, yeah i probably hate them

Pillbox & others - in that clip, before the music starts around 0:30, the soundtrack is this washed-out sound that I really love - how can I hear more music like that?

oops, sorry. i wasn't saying that the essex green track was the washed-out bit starting @ 0:30 (which is cults' "go outside), just that it's the song on the soundtrack that i love best. "the late great cassiopia" is the sad/soft powerpop track that starts @ 1:28 or so.

i don't really distinguish: if you're riding a board you're probably a dick. except for that... cock.

Oh, my son's not a dick. Well, maybe a bit (which 13 year old isn't), but not when he's skating, he's surprisingly courteous. Most of them are. It's the BMX-ers you need to watch out for.

And in-line skaters.

I hate these things mostly because they're ubiquitous on the college campus that I work on, and the guys riding them are always horrible dude-bro types who wear shell necklaces and all seem like the shitty acoustic guitar playing Jack Johnson wannabes who try to woo the ladies at parties by being slightly more sensitive than the rest of the asshole frat guys.

But I admit that a whole lot of it is my own biases about "real" skateboarding and how these assholes wouldn't be able to ride one or do any tricks and probably would have been the jocky dicks who picked on actual skateboarders when they were in high school.
