i think i micromanaged a little too much, got a little stingy with the land and tried to test my luck hoping the price would fall. but still, no one died! imo if anyone starves u are a horrible ruler

seems like a shame the win conditions don't differentiate between 'lots of land / got there by being a nice guy and not letting people starve' and 'lots of land / utter bastard'

otoh the rat consumption having no upper boundaries makes the former kind of difficult to get to, they will eat 10,000+ bushels of grain if you try and game the system

ok i'm not going to try to parse that. what goes into population growth?

also people arriving at the city is a random variable, so you can kill 45% of your population every round and people still immigrate -- this is modelling a society with no news transmission at all and several thousand rats per person

I figured out what was happening: if people die from the plague then you don't need to have fed all of them.
