Unsweet. Though I can rock out with an Arnold Palmer.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 18 July 2011 22:55 (fourteen years ago)

two sugars, two teabags, warm the cup first please love, taaaaa

i hate tea if it's not lemonade iced tea

writing down my vagina’s sorrows for all the world to see (The Brainwasher), Monday, 18 July 2011 22:55 (fourteen years ago)

i'm going unsweet this week to try to lower the excessive sugar I intake lately, but it's like being in the Southern US it's like the Planet of the Apes of tea where people think you're either the owner of a Chinese restaurant or you're mentally disabled if you ask for unsweet tea.

Neanderthal, Monday, 18 July 2011 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

I wear a wristwatch and eat potato salad. Tea's sweetness or lack of it pales in importance next to these facts.

Aimless, Monday, 18 July 2011 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

no sugar, wee bit of milk.

Unsweet. Loving the giant 99 cent Dunkin' Donuts iced tea with lemon on these HOT days.

Vendo Caramelos A Veces Sin Dinero (Capitaine Jay Vee), Monday, 18 July 2011 23:00 (fourteen years ago)

Restaurants down here all try to outdo each other on how sweet they can make their tea -- irritating as hell, it's like the stunt-hopping from craft brewers. I'll take it unsweet...might add a little pink packet, but probably not.

Josef K-Doe (WmC), Monday, 18 July 2011 23:00 (fourteen years ago)

when i worked in a restaurant they had us fill a pitcher up with hot water, then fill a slightly smaller pitcher up with sugar, and mix the two first before putting in the tea bag and starting the machine, so that it was like a 'syrup' when added to the tea.

Neanderthal, Monday, 18 July 2011 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

gross

Josef K-Doe (WmC), Monday, 18 July 2011 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

yep!

Neanderthal, Monday, 18 July 2011 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

if you spilled any on your hand, it would stick kinda like soda.....ick

Neanderthal, Monday, 18 July 2011 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

one of the perks that elevates arby's above other fast food restaurants is that you can get unsweetened tea there next to the soda fountain

dayo, Monday, 18 July 2011 23:08 (fourteen years ago)

unsweet. i used to be all till-the-spoon-stands-up &c, w/four sugars, and then weaned myself off, tea for a while being a sorry substitute for its former sweet self, a warm mug you would cling to for warmth & ritual, like non-alcoholic beer, etc. i made a cup of tea for my friend at an event recently and was kinda in awe of what a great routine it was to do the whole thing (like it had a saucer & he got biscuits, &c) - to go through the whole sequence of the milk-drop mushroom cloud & the quicksand sugar submersion and the stirring w/the whirlpool & the biscuit perching & everything.

Aa Bb Obscure Dull Blue (#000066) (schlump), Monday, 18 July 2011 23:08 (fourteen years ago)

there's a pretty badass tea joint here....hot tea > iced tea when outside temperature isn't a driving factor of my choice

Neanderthal, Monday, 18 July 2011 23:09 (fourteen years ago)

if you're talking about iced tea the answer is sweet

if you're talking about hot tea it depends on the tea

pathos of the unwarranted encore (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 18 July 2011 23:10 (fourteen years ago)

surely been done on here but at what stage do you put milk in? i put it in first.

you've got male (jim in glasgow), Monday, 18 July 2011 23:11 (fourteen years ago)

nope, bag then water then milk, to ensure mug warmed sufficiently, except when using good china iirc

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Monday, 18 July 2011 23:19 (fourteen years ago)

sweet duh

bros -izing bros (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 19 July 2011 02:13 (fourteen years ago)

mcdonalds sweet tea is actually pretty dope

bros -izing bros (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 19 July 2011 02:13 (fourteen years ago)

i don't know if i've had ice tea besides BRISK or some shit.. so my impression is that it's wayy too sweet.

am I diversified? (blank), Tuesday, 19 July 2011 02:16 (fourteen years ago)

Have started taking my hot tea without ANY milk or sugar, which is...weird. But it's true that I can taste the tea-ness a lot more? Is actually going to force me to upgrade tea-wise, though.

ICED TEA, HOWEVER, IS BOLLOCKS WITHOUT SUGAR, and by sugar I mean it has to be simple syrup.

Tea is tea. No sugar, no milk. Only way to go.

I for one am (Le Bateau Ivre), Saturday, 30 July 2011 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

i go for unsweetened. if i sweeten it, it's with like one packet of splenda or sweet 'n' low.

when i worked food service i got customers who looked seriously confused when i told them the iced tea was unsweetened, like that couldn't possibly be a thing that exists. they'd either walk away or order a regular coke instead.

apihopatcong weehawkul (get bent), Sunday, 31 July 2011 01:32 (fourteen years ago)

Hot tea should have cream in it.

Always a Bigger and Better Dog (Mount Cleaners), Sunday, 31 July 2011 01:39 (fourteen years ago)

chinese black tea - milk and sugar
persian tea - rock sugar
european "black" tea - maybe sugar
iced tea - no sugar or add fruit

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 31 July 2011 04:57 (fourteen years ago)

always put sugar in black tea, and most of the time milk (except for darjeeling or oolong), never put sugar in green tea/genmaicha.

corey, Sunday, 31 July 2011 05:22 (fourteen years ago)

voted unsweetened b/c I mostly drink it iced & when it is iced I like it plain.

exceptions:
- real southern-style sweet tea @ bbq/soul food joints and such
- hot tea w/ milk and honey
- arnold palmers, which actually would almost have me voting 'sweet,' were it not for the 50% lemonade factor, which kind of negates the general tea-ness anyway. Otherwise, APs are my go-to (non-booze) summer beverage & I love them!

notes on camping (Pillbox), Sunday, 31 July 2011 05:58 (fourteen years ago)

Totally depends upon the tea, but if you're talking bog standard PG Tips or something, milk no sugar, please. But I dislike the rudeness of assuming that's the only way to drink tea. There is definitely a time and place for Builders Tea.

i think these poll results are exactly correct

notes on camping (Pillbox), Monday, 1 August 2011 15:41 (fourteen years ago)

This really depends for me whether it's hot or iced, but when I voted I presumed we were talking about iced, because it's summertime.

kkvgz, Monday, 1 August 2011 15:43 (fourteen years ago)

Glad y'all didn't need my vote, as I forgot, but it's real simple: Iced, hot, you know what tea should have in it when you serve it to me? TEA AND NOTHING ELSE. I will add sugar, honey or dairy products as desired.

Dave Zuul (Phil D.), Monday, 1 August 2011 15:55 (fourteen years ago)

Oh, I would never want anyone else to sweeten my tea.

kkvgz, Monday, 1 August 2011 16:58 (fourteen years ago)

ha, Phil, I'm sure you're being a bit facetious but the South's penchant for deep-fried everything is probably more to blame than sugary tea.

corey, Tuesday, 2 August 2011 01:36 (fourteen years ago)

a quart of Pepsi is generally the preferred drink anyway
