Incredibly funny and a great after dinner speaker Peter Slack shares his wonderfully whimsical observations on the ramblers that pass thru his farmyard.

Then he shoots them.

I'm glad Men Speakers exists, it's really terrible when you need a proper male after-dinner speaker to talk about manly things after your manly dinner and you look through a list of 100 speakers on some other companies' books and sometimes as many as 8 of them are women, which is really off-putting to the manly decision-making process.

A speaker for all seasons. An experienced biographer, he appears regularly on TV and radio, and delivers lectures on cruises and at literary festivals. Can fart the theme to Last of the Summer Wine on request.

A SCOT ACROSS THE BORDER - Tales of a travelling Doctor.

What is it with doctors and the urge to do comedy?

From his raffish bowtie to the fact that his Mrs dropped sextuplets, you can tell that this bloke is gonna be as hilarious as every other Liverpudlian ever.

Mrs Walton does talks on the contraceptive promotion circuit.

Former comedian Leigh Francis' career was hit so badly by the demise of Craig David and Big Brother that today he can only get work on ITV2.

TBH we signed this Antiques Roadshow dude by mistake because we thought he was the footballer.

Are we voting for best or worst?

Servants of the SBankh (snoball), Sunday, 24 July 2011 17:18 (fourteen years ago)

no worries spacey, it was a long drawn-out affair anyway.

i propose we vote for which of these is the least objectionable human being. my vote probly going to Nicola.

graveshitwave (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 24 July 2011 17:20 (fourteen years ago)

Well obviously Nicolas Parsons by a nose (geddit?! ah wvs). Followed by Leigh Francis (the bell-end persona is just an act, saw a docu about him a few years ago and he came across as a decent person). Bill Tidy for 3rd place, again seems like a nice dude. Unless he's been outed as a foaming-at-the-mouth racist recently.

Servants of the SBankh (snoball), Sunday, 24 July 2011 17:23 (fourteen years ago)

phew glad parsons got a free voting him

who shivs a git (darraghmac), Sunday, 24 July 2011 18:12 (fourteen years ago)

Parsons is the obvious choice here too.

All I know Tom O'Connor as is a gentle voice cooing easy crossword clues at me during childhood sick days, which is ok by me. Perhaps if I had ever heard his stand-up routine I'd have more to dislike. Guess his after-dinner speeches may feature less of the former.

the ascent of nyan (a passing spacecadet), Sunday, 24 July 2011 18:42 (fourteen years ago)

tbh the way he finished each ep with "never a cross word" was enough to make me hate him on that but i suspect he was made to look less noxious thru the continual presence of kate copstick

graveshitwave (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 24 July 2011 18:45 (fourteen years ago)

ugh, I just thought "I haven't been reminded of Kate Copstick in a long time", in much the same way as someone might think "I haven't been reminded of General Pinochet in a long time"

Servants of the SBankh (snoball), Sunday, 24 July 2011 18:58 (fourteen years ago)

i read a very funny quote from pinochet today along the lines of 'I'm not a dictator, I've just got a grumpy face', that alone puts him ahead of Tom fucking O'Connor in the comedian stakes
