Remember recieving "Chicago Transit Authority" from Columbia House with Billy Joel "Piano Man", Elton John "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", J. Geils Band "Bloodshot", "Led Zeppelin II" and Grand Funk Railroad "Closer To Home". Had actually ordered WAR "All Day Music", Bill Withers "Still Bill", Bob Marley "Catch a Fire" and Jimi Hendrix "Band of Gypsys". Columbia sent me (a black kid) the wrong order. I listened this album and needless to say, whoever made the order wasn't gonna get his albums.

Back then, we thought the weirdos were the people that had short well kept hair. Now it's the other way around. But there's no doubt the music was better back when we sticking it to the man, instead of kissing his ass. like nowadays.

Guess what groundbreaking and profound 80s track this comment was posted on? Why yes, it was Tarzan Boy by Baltimora

ok, ok, I was in Friedberg, GE when SNAP came out with their version. If you look at the video with Turbo, she told me how it all went down, not to call any names out, but somehow the version that was in NYC got back to Germany. The rest is history,,, Just for those that think I'm full of it,,, we all used to hang at the club in Friedberg named the Studio,,,,,AKA, the Bootyhole

Jerry _____ I was there for their concert. We were BLOWN away by Hendrix! A night I’ll never forget!

Jerry _____ Now that I’ve got a moment to elaborate on the concert... My buddy Chris and I were about 15 years old at the time (we had recently formed a garage band). This was our very first concert, and everyone was in a fever pitch waiting for the Monkees. When Hendrix and the Experience took the stage, we were totally bummed out - and yes, people were booing. Hendrix approached the mic, and in the most gentle and delicate voice, did a two second sound test. Then all at once... he struck a chord, and the earth literally quaked. We couldn’t breath. Hendrix ripped into ‘Wild Thing’ and it was as if we witnessed the birth of fire. Rock and Roll would never be the same. As we walked home, we couldn’t stop talking about the opening act - and I suggested to my friend that he needs to learn to play the guitar like THAT. It was much later, after Hendrix skyrocketed, that we realized that he was that genius who swept us away that faithful night.

7 years ago my brother passed away. I found this album queued up on his computer and have carried a copy around with my ever since, though I've have never had the guts to listen to it. Tonight as I worked a song played randomly through my headphones. I went to see who it was and found that it was the same album I've been packing around all these years. Thanks for allowing me to share a new experience with my brother. I miss him.

I have a question for Fred. Do you remember my son Barry Martin? You guys were friends back in the mid 90s. He had an apartment in Gaston County, probably in Gastonia NC, and you crashed on his couch before. I don't know if you heard about his death in 1999 but he was killed in a car accident. I wish he was around today to see your success. I am Barry's mother, Debbie Zimmerman. Keep Rollin, Rollin, Rollin! Bless up!

i was in thailand a few years ago, and in one of the go gos there a few of the girls did kind of a retro dance thing. It was fantastic. I swear if we opened a club that did pure retro we would pack the place. 60s gogo, cage dancers. Not vulgar, but just pure let it loose dancing. Fasions of the 60s and early 70s. miniskirts etc. The gal in purple here did it just fine

Back in the 80s I worked in a factory for a while, helping to pack product and get it on pallets for the forklifts. It was a good job for a teenager. One of the assembly line mechanics and I became good friends and one day this song came on the radio. I asked him who it was and said "Argent". A couple weeks later he was killed on his motorcycle, and this song always brings him to mind even now. .

If you see this Lilly, I miss you and I can't stop thinking about you. I'm sorry for ending our relationship over an idiotic reason. I really need some closure but I'm just not brave enough to text you because I'm afraid you'll make fun of me. Even though you're not that type of person. I really miss you, I'm sorry that I was a horrible boyfriend.

I wonder if KittyCatFurbabiesMaria gave him a kitten as a birthday present. That thought just popped into my mind.

Bizarrely, and perhaps as a bot-driven election tactic, trolls appear to have latched on to clips from the 1960s Battle of Britain film. Or at least one specific clip*, possibly others, I'm not going to check. The sudden revival of decade-old Youtube clips constantly reminds me that there's an entire parallel internet that I never experience - presumably someone shared the clip on Facebook, or Twitter, or TikTok, or some other platform, on the assumption that they're going to get a direct line to Britain's voters. The original poster is probably as baffled about it as I am.

Ashley Pomeroy, Saturday, 15 June 2024 14:48 (one year ago)

there are some photos of the Coventry Music Museum event on the website of the Coventry Telegraph:

Despite being a front man of a major band and a presenter on MTV and VH1 for many years, Paul came over as a quiet and unassuming man. The venue was packed with fans of the past, many who had never got the chance to meet him.

I interviewed Paul for an hour and he kindly spent another 70 minutes in our King exhibition space, meeting our guests and signing photos and albums and having his photograph taken with fans by photographers John Coles and Andy Holloway.

also his wikipedia infobox goes into a lot of detail about his romantic history
