I started a position as a teaching assistant in a pretty rough New Orleans school a few weeks back, but I haven't really had any teaching experience before -- I was mostly offered the position, I think, due to some experience I had working with kids at a school in Uganda. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any books about teaching to recommend, particularly with difficult kids -- I think I'm doing okay so far, but I definitely think it wouldn't hurt to have some kind of educational background either. I'm working with kids in first through third grade, so I guess something focusing on early education would be best. I tried looking up some books online but I really haven't been able to find much.
