Ally, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't understand what this is about

Mike Hanle y, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dental hygiene.

nathalie, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I wish I remembered to floss more often.

Martin, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

'Stupid' things are valid. No time for research. But, there is room for bothe it should be 62% random, and 38% researched.

jel, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am still thinking about Ally's socks

Mike Hanle y, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Research first, Ace!

Cryosmurf, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm not wearing socks. And I research nothing.

Ally, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Research last, ace!

Actually, my real view is a bit more boringly complex than that. Sometimes I love doing research on totally trivial subjects before posting. But wolfgang on the absinthe thread seemed to be admonishing people for not doing so. Which seemed a bit pompous. I may have missed the irony. We English don't understand irony.

Nick, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I generally tend to research things very carefully, and then do them anyway.

Kate the Saint, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You ARE wearing socks, doghead.

Mike Hanle y, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Now I think I'd know if I was wearing socks, you second rate Tim Curry.

Ally, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

that hurt

Mike Hanle y, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm sorry.

Ally, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

More like Mark Curry.

the pinefox, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I still remember Adam Curry. His haircut caused many sleepless nights for me.

nathalie, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

AAARRRGGGHGHGHGHGHGHG!!! Adam Curry and the superfluffmullet!!!

What the heck was UP with that hair, anyway... He was truly terrifying. Though my best friend in high school had a crush on him. Eeeuuuwwww!!!

Kate the Saint, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You should have seen his wife. She was in the Dolly Dots. The music was almost as bad as the name.

nathalie, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Did she have the superfluffemmullet? As sported by The Bangles during their "our record company wants us to wear fingerless gloves so we can get on MTV" phase?

Kate the Saint, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It was more a punky Joan Collins meets Madonna down at Toys R Us.

nathalie, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I really stopped the Censorship thread dead in its tracks with idiocy

Mike Hanle y, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The revolution will not be cybertized.

nathalie, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

TEETOTAL VERSION OF QUESTION: Last night I tried to convince a boy that snakes had ribs. "How do they eat those giant animals and eggs and stuff then?" he asked. I told him that their ribs separate, just like their jaws (note: this is not true of all snakes). Clearly I was just talking out of my bottom (I presume teetotalers don't use swears).

1 1 2 3 5, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I didn't say English ppl don't understand irony, just they're not as good at it as Canadians. Man some shit has been hap. round here while I was sleeping, can someone run it down for me?

duane, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This thread is total ILE. A study in rambling idiocy. Congradulations everyone!

Mike Hanley, Thursday, 9 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Congradulations and bubblations"? Probably a Mick Flower cover.

But what if proper research is done in the wrong place? Then it will be pointless.

nathalie (nathalie), Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

After having done proper research, I have come to the conclusion: You need to click on uncategorized to view the new threads.

nathalie (nathalie), Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I research about half the time. I know it does not look like it.

anthony, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Actually if it's for self-development, I think research is classic. If it's to flaunt your knowledge... then I say dud.

nathalie (nathalie), Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If "serious" research = 5-10 minutes on google, I like it. I usually learn a few random things along the way.

Sterling Clover, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Love of research has wrecked my life. In the days when I "had a job and cd cut it" (as Denis Muxterpie wd put it), I wd do more research for a 1500 NME feature than some tenured academics do for a whole book. The last ten years I have been writing a "whole book" (a history, from a specific angle, of the music of the last 125 years). Whatever you care to mention — however flippantly — has become germane. The net is a swampy nightmare of potential relevance, expanding a mile a second every second. HELP ME!!

mark s, Friday, 10 August 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

two years pass...
I still think I'm on the side of talking out of my arse about stupid things like absinthe. What say you?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 23 December 2003 03:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I am so down with research

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 23 December 2003 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Research roXorz. I'm probably gonna investigate some more this thing they call absinthe over the week-end..

Baaderist (Fabfunk), Tuesday, 23 December 2003 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Though my best friend in high school had a crush on him. Eeeuuuwwww!!!

my MOM though he was cute. Beat that!

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 24 December 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Research is for pussies.

NA (Nick A.), Wednesday, 24 December 2003 02:22 (twenty-two years ago)

If you're going to do it, then research obv. If you're just talking to some drunk fratty, then fill him full of shit.

TEH ONE AN ONLEY DEANN GULBAREY (deangulberry), Wednesday, 24 December 2003 09:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I researched absinthe once. I ended up setting fire to things at 3am and trying to fry eggs on the kitchen floor on a puddle of tequila.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 24 December 2003 10:35 (twenty-two years ago)

That link donwloads a .exe, don't click on it (I have a Mac, haha, thpppt, "ph34rth3l33t"

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 24 December 2003 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Surely we can ban/kick off/kill Johnny Fitz for virusing us, no?

Hah! That's such a great phrase, tea-totaler. I never hear it.

Well. I guess you haven't gone to very many goddamn motherfucking AA meetings to hear the notoriously filthy fucking shit that spews from peoples' mouths! And the even lousier offal that tends to spew during NA meetings...

As to absinthe, what about it? I used to homebrew the stuff and I liked it lots, back in the day! Don't miss it though!
