Nobody is claiming that renewable energy, electric cars, or new technology is fossil fuel free, but what the author fails to acknowledge is that each of these things, if implemented correctly, will lead to the use of far less fossil fuels and far less of everything. Further more, nowhere does the author explain how much less is to be used and how much less of a population there shall be. And while it is true that we do need to reduce our consumption and probably true that less humans would be better, the question remains how MUCH less of each?

Finally, the author fails to acknowledge that the problem is NOT consumption per say, but consumptive lifestyles AS REQUIRED BY CAPITALISM. Nowhere does he account for the numeric effect that corporate consumption of energy and resources (which, if factored into the overall combined energy consumption of the human race) has a HUGELY SIGNIFICANT effect.

While it is important to question all technology, including so-called "green" technology, this author's arguments are not only not helpful, they are counter productive.

I suggest if folks are interested in alternatives to Malthusian dogma such as this, check us out at http://ecology.iww.org/
