What did you get in the mail this morning?

(Or yesterday, or this week. Or last week. Or recently. Or tomorrow)

Today I received:
1) 2 bank statements, for previous and student accounts: "No Details To Report" and "£xxxx.xx overdrawn".
2) A massive thick university "Key Skills Handbook" with lots of nonsense Evidence forms to fill in for nonsense self assessment, and also a nonsense table of what skills you gain in what module that makes no sense AT ALL. Also we were meant to be given it at the start of last year, so fuck it if I'm going to fill it in.
2) Retake assginments for the modules I failed. One is just doing the essay I didn't do (I must make up a TV show), and one is "Evolution of the PC". Peasy. And there's no mention of the third module I failed.

What love did you get?

Graham (graham), Thursday, 29 August 2002 09:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I got a letter from BT saying I hadn't paid my phone bill. But, I paid it last weekend! ha!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 29 August 2002 10:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I got nothing this morning. I'm expecting a footie shaped radio I supposedly won off of a packet of Cheesy Wotsits. It was supposed to arrive after the world cup I think.
I may have been forgotten. If so I will ltake it up with Ant and Dec. Thieving Geordie Bastards.

Simeon (Simeon), Thursday, 29 August 2002 10:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Today all i got was a vodafone bill and confirmation of my student loan course related costs being approved. Which is nice. NOTHING in the p.o. box tho, it's been quite lonely lately, hint hint.

I have a question: do you have postcodes in New Zealand? (coz if you do, then I need one from Rainy so I can send that painting, which I didn't send when I said I was gonna send it coz I got to the post office and I thought "hmmm no postcode! I better check!")

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 29 August 2002 11:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Bugger all chiz chiz. Yesterday I got a timesheet. Interesting things through our door have included a Cornish postcard from Tom and a Sardinian postcard from my GREBT CHUM C______. Also a cockfarming WRONG PARCEL arrived from amazon.co.uk. BASTARDS.

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 29 August 2002 11:42 (twenty-three years ago)

jel: We sort of have them but noone actually uses them, cause there's only one dunedin and stuff. Mine is 2001 tho, which is pretty choice.

petra jane (petra jane), Thursday, 29 August 2002 11:44 (twenty-three years ago)

The postlady hadn't arrived before I left for work today. I am expecting some records to arrive. I think they are overdue. This is the first time I've ever ordered any discs over the modern interweb. The company e-mailed me on the 16th(!) to say they had shipped them. My CC has been charged. I am nervous...

zebedee, Thursday, 29 August 2002 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

A ticket from the very very very devilish city of West Hollywood for not having a front license plate (it fell off when I tried to push a stalled truck with my little Honda, I'm a dope). This is the first photo-enforced Big Brother type ticket I've gotten. Creepy.

Arthur (Arthur), Thursday, 29 August 2002 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

The new Hideki Kaji cd "Long Weekend" from Ohkura-san of Comfort Records in Japan. The album is lovely and Ohkura-san is wonderful to do business with.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 30 August 2002 03:01 (twenty-three years ago)

The new issue of the Wire, a poster, and a letter from the Archdiocese of Vienna informing my wife that her indulgences had taken effect, and now she won't be stuck in purgatory.

Alan (Alan), Friday, 30 August 2002 08:24 (twenty-three years ago)

invitation to subscribe to some new review journal ("as a person who appreciates literature": nice try LaYMoRz); reminder to pay sub to Historical Materialism journal, which I can't decide whether to or not (I'm still annoyed abt an incredibly sloppy, thin, intellectually cowardly RadPol 101 essay HM ran on Dewey and Pragmatism from more than two years ago: to be fair, it was also abominably subbed, so I suspect it came in real late and the journal editors just had to run with what they had, no rewrites possible etc -> in other words, they were as annoyed by it as me, but the schedule said jump and they had to)

mark s (mark s), Friday, 30 August 2002 08:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I got an exciting E-MAIL but nothing good in the mail, think a bank statement yesterday hooray. The e-mail was from Underwater Records telling me I was on their mailing list, sweet.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 30 August 2002 08:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I got bills.

I get more mail for the people who lived here three months ago than I do for myself. Mostly it is warrant notices and debt collection stuff for them. I write RTS in big letters on the front and stick them in the post box and feel inconvenienced about the whole thing (as I also do when the sheriffs or the police turn up looking for them, the tenents, not the letters ).

I don't like the people who used to live here even though I have never met them. They make me paranoid and it cost lots to get all the locks changed. Also they left a bowl of mull in the kitchen drawer. How dodgy is that!

toraneko (toraneko), Friday, 30 August 2002 09:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Still no sign of my records. *sigh*

zebedee, Friday, 30 August 2002 09:51 (twenty-three years ago)

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Saturday, 31 August 2002 07:13 (twenty-three years ago)

The new When Saturday Comes (a football mag) and, more thrillingly, the new Underworld CD. It's good to be able to buy a CD online for £8.99 and get it before it's even in the shops!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 31 August 2002 09:11 (twenty-three years ago)

yesterday afternoon i got:

1) an unrequested mailing from the university of new jersey
2) a requested catalogue of courses from bard college, very battered from the journey
3) a little yellow brochure from a friend's church (her mom told me to sign in once when i went and they've been sending me stuff every couple of months).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 3 September 2002 13:10 (twenty-three years ago)

nothing, but that's kinda good, lately I've been requesting all kind of catalogues as they make a refreshing change from letters saying that I owe x amount of money or that I am not what employers are looking for.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 3 September 2002 13:10 (twenty-three years ago)

A crap CD from some bloke who wanted it reviewed. Ah well, dig out the cliched constructive criticism.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 3 September 2002 13:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Today I got two phone calls from people asking if I'd got records they sent me. They had both sent them to number 35 rather than 53, so tonight I have to round to number 35 and say 'Can I have my records back please?' and pray they say yes.

Anna, Tuesday, 3 September 2002 13:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris - I could but I'd have to eat you.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 3 September 2002 13:37 (twenty-three years ago)

What is Cbrassica (and can we eat it)?

Anna, Tuesday, 3 September 2002 13:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Today I got nothing. Julio did you get the CD?

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 3 September 2002 15:19 (twenty-three years ago)

A mailing from Haverford about an open house that is apparently geared for minority students. That's weird because I am not a minority student, but I can't reach the people it says to call about it.

Maria (Maria), Tuesday, 3 September 2002 17:25 (twenty-three years ago)

five years pass...

I won a CD online from residentadvisor.net around the end of April (they're legit, as I won a bunch of records from them last winter and they arrived in what was less than 2 weeks, I think), and it STILL hasn't arrived. I sent an email to them asking about it over a week ago and no response yet. I'm in a weird spot because I didn't pay for anything, but still won the CD fair and square, should I just keep complaining?
