ok one for sorrow, two for joy etc
what is the RULE by which one magpie converts into two: do they have to be present before you at one and the same time? is two obvious singletons one after another (not overlapping) joy or 2 x sorrow?
this has always bothered me, esp. since a couple of ravens moved in opposite my bedroom window
