Just watched Neighbours for the first time in AGES (several months) and Mrs Kennedy's gone mentalist! She's lost her memory and she wants her mum, it's great! Have I missed anything else this entertainingly ridiculous?

Karl+Darcy+Drew made a sexy calendar!
Lou-Harold-Madge Lookalike love triangle!
Precocious girl solves everyone's problems and foils everyone's schemes!
Horrible Irish guy dating Michelle!

Wow.

Nick Southall, Thursday, 29 August 2002 15:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Precocious Girl (otherwise known as Summer) is one of the most irritating people on television.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 29 August 2002 22:56 (twenty-three years ago)

oh, and Holly Valance (Flick) is back! For a bit at least..

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Thursday, 29 August 2002 22:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Also Lou is going DOWN THE GURGLER!

Graham (graham), Friday, 30 August 2002 00:49 (twenty-three years ago)

My god, Neighbours is great. The writing team must be constantly in hysterical fits of laughter. Can you believe they brought Harold back?

Andrew (enneff), Friday, 30 August 2002 01:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Harold is a legend. You should see the Jarvis Cocker specs and comedy hawaiian shirts he sports in the early 90s episodes

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 30 August 2002 01:23 (twenty-three years ago)

lou goes anticlockwise! probably!

why is it that he's going DOWN THE GURGLER!?

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 August 2002 02:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Harold Bishop's allergic to furry animals trait, always a crowd pleaser. Pop's up when you least expect and remember his vunerabilty under his loveable righteous exterior.

...and Toady has sold out and gone and worked for that sleazebag!

chrisb (chrisb), Friday, 30 August 2002 05:08 (twenty-three years ago)

TAD REEVES AKA DJ DETONATOR <-does he still feature?

I believe he once mentioned MOGWAI, in character.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 August 2002 05:44 (twenty-three years ago)

he's gone dj'ing on the global circuit with a bunch of bikers and boarders', last seen in san fran-

chrisb (chrisb), Friday, 30 August 2002 07:51 (twenty-three years ago)

does anyone remember when Harold caught sight of the Marilyn Manson Cd Paul bought Lance for his birthday and Harold commented, thats a funny looking woman. Ledge!

Not a patch on old-skool Neighbours with Craig McLachlan as Henry. The catch beach ball and fall in pool opening credits sequence! He got quoted in whatver-the-quotes-section-in-NME is called once. He was doing a crossword and saying "Five letter word meaning 'female'. Chcik? Broad? Skirt? Girly?"

Just to remind you:

drew looks awfully like ed o'brien

leigh, Friday, 30 August 2002 09:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Aw yeah, Henry! MarkH is the man for bringing him up. It used to be on cable years ago and I loved Henry's fluffy mullet. Both him and Charlene had those fluffy blond afros, it was excellent.

Shall I relate the mentalist Neighbours dream I had the night before last?

I was running through a shopping mall or something when I tripped over and I tripped over and landed in front of a bookshelf. On the shelf directly in front of me was a thick hardback book, with a slightly torn black dustjacket. At the top of the spine was a black and white photo of a smiling "Karl Kennedy" and below, in thick red writing it said "HYPNOTISM by Dr. Peter Reilly".

And then I woke up, but I knew. "Karl" was just an evil Doctor that had hypnotised this poor woman into believing she was his wife for the last 8 years, and suddenly she'd woken up. Perhaps he did this to compensate for a hormone imbalance that caused her to age prematurely, or perhaps he was so mental he'd convinced the whole world that she was as old as he said she was.

Will any of you go near me ever again?

Graham (graham), Friday, 30 August 2002 11:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Will any of you go near me ever again?

what do you mean by go?

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 August 2002 11:50 (twenty-three years ago)

My husband was in Neighbours...he was asked by the camera crew to buy a can of coke of Henry / Craig McLachlan. He was seen on screen when Henry was actually selling sponges. He has photos of Aunt Hilary (remember her?) and top Hollywood celeb Guy Pearce. If you meet him, I guarantee he will tell you the story (my husband, not Guy Pearce). I have heard it about once a fortnight for the last five years...

ailsa, Friday, 30 August 2002 23:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I have never heard this story.

did I ever tell you about the time I was in the czech republic? yeah--no television.

RJG (RJG), Friday, 30 August 2002 23:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Tad has namedropped Mogwai, Squarepusher and Boards of Canada. And he's supposed to be a techno DJ which means he's well listened.

Lynskey, Saturday, 31 August 2002 00:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Tad died in the show to little or no fanfare

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Sunday, 1 September 2002 21:11 (twenty-three years ago)

he's dead?!? i thought he went on a holiday?

minna (minna), Sunday, 1 September 2002 21:26 (twenty-three years ago)

someone should take ned to ramsay st.!

minna (minna), Sunday, 1 September 2002 21:26 (twenty-three years ago)

No, a kid that had registered credit cards etc in Tad's name died, which Harold sickly celebrated.

Graham (graham), Sunday, 1 September 2002 21:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh I musta missed that bit. I was wondering why nobody seemed very upset.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Sunday, 1 September 2002 22:41 (twenty-three years ago)

The writing team must be constantly in hysterical fits of laughter. Can you believe they brought Harold back?

Three of the writers have quite a good band called The Sand Pebbles.

OCP, Monday, 2 September 2002 11:49 (twenty-three years ago)

There was this carnival ride at Creamfields and one of the illustrations on it was this girl who looked fucking exactly, EXACTLY like Steph from Neighbours.
