in california at least the sense i get is that the creepy-ishness escalates in roughly that order.
for some reason i find police at least somewhat appoachable, state troopers i try to keep conversation w/ to the bare minimum, and sheriff deputies i hope i never see.
i don't know much about other peace officers except that every border patrol agent i've ever met seemed really weird. i've only met a few. i've met one corrections officer and he was a bit weird too.
is this just my weird perception or do different types of peace officers actually behave really differently? is it the same everywhere, or in some places are deputies and state troopers nicer than city cops?
