Hm, of the three, I would say Neu!, then Faust, then Can. I think if I had had the opportunity to listen to Can back in the 70s, I might have a better appreciation, but no one I knew had their records and imports were expensive for starving students!

hi mookie! We live in N Oakland and I work at Pitt.
I have also lived in Sq Hill, Southside Slopes and Lawrenceville.
Whereabouts did you live?

My Mom is originally from Sq. Hill and I think she went to HS in Southside. Is that possible? This was a loooooooooong time ago.

i grew up in cheswick up the allegheny. my dad used to work at mellon institute and i spent a lot of time at the carnegie library, though. my sense of oakland is probably 25 years out of date!

I am not sure, I was born here, but grew up in Virginia, and came back, and went west and came back. Maybe it depended on where in Sq Hill she lived, it's kind of a big neighborhood.

xp to mookie, my family is from Bridgeville/Carnegie, so I am more familiar with the South Hills than north/east. Did you know, they cleaned the library/museum? I was all O_o that it wasn't soot-black when I moved back in 1993! They left a little spot that is still dirty in one corner.
Cleaned the Cathedral of Learning too.
