... though I only once got something actually worth picking up: some excellent bookshelves. Never found a way to plumb in the ancient printer to my mac; the record player was a weird design that meant the needle arm stuck and skipped more often than not.

The man who came for the small fridge I gave away was riding a tricycle pulling a little cart which was exactly the right dimensions to put a fridge in.

i gave away a nespresso machine on this a couple of years ago. the only thing i ever picked up were some MDF offcuts i ended up not using

I love freecycling. In recent months I have given away a freezer and a guitar amp to friendly folks. Not many charity shops near me take electrical goods anymore, so it's a good way to get rid of such things without dumping working stuff in a skip.

A friend of mine has managed to score a bike, 32" flatscreen TV and a 22" flatscreen computer monitor from it too.
