the only one ive had is tacos at midnight which is pretty good! but ever since they brought classic taco back that's met my intermittent dorito needs. curious about the tapatio one i will admit.

i think i ate doritos for one summer of my adolescence before i realized i'd much rather eat unflavored corn chips w/ salsa and never looked back.

when i do eat flavored chips though i tend to opt for one of the spicy ones, though, so one of those. probably the jalapeno.

weird how once-ubiquitous Cool Ranch has just kinda faded out of public consciousness

spicy nacho is about as good as regular nacho just depends on mood

bbq and queso are the 2 non-main flavors that are in league with the OGs. all the other limited / weird flavors i've tried have been worse, often much worse

I do think the new white cheddar ones are worth everyone's attention, even if they come from a dumb place of MAHA compliance.

For some reason, I have an insatiable appetite for Doritos. If I buy one of those big bags, I could easily finish them in one sitting - I have to make myself stop because I won't stop from being full. Anyway, it's a big reason why I very rarely buy Doritos - I think I've gotten maybe four big bags since 2020 and finished each one in like two or three days.

i am the same. i get a bag and it is inhaled way faster than any bag of chips should be. so usually i reach past it for a compromise snack, like sunchips or lame fucking cheddar popcorn.

Cheddar popcorn is WAY less lame than sunchips IMHO. No offense intended

My partner loves cheddar and caramel popcorn mixes. Garrett popcorn in Chicago is great too, I was surprised it became a thing tourists should try when they're in town. (This was even before they opened up a vendor at O'Hare.)

they are also expensive and i can't find the big bags anymore so i don't really buy them (sun chips i mean). they want almost six dollars for a smallish bag and it's hard for me to bite on that. kind of true of all snacks these days, tho. which i guess is good for my health but it's kind of annoying that all this junk food now commands premium prices like it's some kind of gourmet food, like what is even in Cheese Itz that they need to be this expensive??

The other day I had Tacos at Midnight (i think thats the exact name) and today I had the Sriracha one and both were really good. I think I'm becoming a Doritos fan, but I never got into the classic flavors all that much.

Just wanted to say I stopped at the grocery store last night to buy a few things before this weekend's ARCTIC BLAST destroys Texas and I had a mind to treat myself to a bag of Spicy Nacho Doritos but panic buying meant the Doritos section of the chip aisle was 100% cleaned out! So I got HEB Crunchy Taco flavor instead. We will see.

in high school there was a year or so where i used to lick all the cheese off of the doritos (front and back) and then place them in a pile on the corner of my lunch tray. once lunch was over and the licked dorito stick was tall (but held together by the dank wetness of my lick, ew!) i would smoosh together the pile and eat the powderly cheese-less stack. ew!!

during this same time dorito points were a thing, and i collected them every day from the whole cafeteria to save up to trade them in for something big. i had many, many dorito points, and was getting a reputation as someone who did weird thing with doritos in multiple ways. but i missed the trade-in deadline, and threw the worthless dorito points away!

also, i noticed that 3D doritos did not get a vote. makes sense! i ate a lot of 3D doritos during this time, late 90s, and they were bad

btw, in case you're wondering which side is the front of the dorito, the front is the side that curls toward you. the back of the dorito curves away

well, actually better than what you'd expect. they were assertive!

IMO the addictive element of traditional doritos (and lots of similar scientific marvel snacks) is that the duration and/or presence of the flavor is juuuust underwhelming enough to make you try again. here the tapatio-ness lingered enough to satisfy, making them... put-downable
