America can absorb any amount of child-naming strangeness; it sops it up like cat litter.

I can't bag on this anymore because one of my oldest friends named her daughter Marley (Mom is not a hippie, just left the USAF) and the little girl is fucking adorable.

One of our cats is called Marley. His name was picked by the first song heard on the car radio driving back from the cat shelter.

Just want to jump in here - and sorry for being a pedant - but I don't think that Bob Marley is "classic rock" as much as "reggae".

Hendrix is a pretty awkward first name.

idk it's got to be better than my sister's in-law who is naming all her kids after conservative presidents, eg she has a daughter named Reagan (I had wondered aloud if The Exorcist was the origin of that name, which really insulted her -_-)

My sister works at a veterinary clinic, and she often has to take care of two dogs that get boarded there a lot named Winger and Dio. Even for dog names I thought that was kind of questionable, but that seems like nothing compared to babies named Metallica and Primus.

I never met Metallica, but people told me she was nice and mostly into hip hop. I think ILX's rabies might've met her. Primus's dad is a deadbeat who split for Portland or Eugene soon after the birth so he could find himself, I think.
