everybody involved in dark and gritty versions of things should be put in a dark room and stoned to death with grit
― Ridin' Skyrims (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 13 November 2011 13:13 (thirteen years ago)
I'd imagine a dark and gritty version of snow white to be set in north london or something and be a kitchen sink drama about the power struggles of a low level crime family and how the matriarch fears relinquishing the domestic power she holds over the family to the new young and pretty usurper.

Bunnicula, you are a domestic rabbit and a sissy. Your wild brethren live cold, brutal lives and the kiss of a hunter's shot comes gently to them.

also i'm tired of sword-fighting and old-timey battles at this point. no movie is going to top nicolas cage and ron perlman as crusaders in season of the witch so why bother anymore.

That is the thing that kills me about that movie, it's ridiculous to even suggest that Kristen Stewart could in any way be better looking than Charlize Theron.
I would rather see the Tarsem Snow White because his movies are always visually stunning.

concept's kinda odd -- no one noticed that 'snow white' is already pretty dark and gritty? even the disney version is probably their most disturbing film.

Yeah, this was fucking terrible. My wife and I were going to go see Moonrise Kingdom, but it was sold out. Dark Shadows was our back-up, but they canceled that showing (which I didn't know they ever did) due to low ticket sales. I was pulling hard for Prometheus, but my wife wasn't buying that and we ended up in this. She apologized to me about eight times throughout the course of the movie.

Kristen Stewart is the worst actress. She didn't convey one single believable human emotion anywhere in this entire film.

point taken
― Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 13 June 2012 18:40 (thirteen years ago)
I think any and all praise I give this movie should be viewed through the filter of "for a movie titled 'Snow White and the Huntsman'"
ie, "This was surprisingly enjoyable..." etc
