Writing your Christmas lists

Did you do this? When did you start? How much research did you put into it?

Oh and not your actual X-mas lists here, coz there is another recent thread about wants and what not (material boy or girl)...

Yes, I was an expert at list writing. Usually started at the end of September. The research was intensive, it involved desk top research (looking at catalogues, thinking about which products would complement the ones I already had etc.), and field research (trips to toy shops, examining prices and finding out who stocked what and who had the best prices). I then would allocate the wanted products to various parties with alternative choices up to a specified value. I was a mercenary. I'd also tell people where they could get them from. And sometimes I'd go back to the shop and see if the toys were still there, and if it was gone I'd think "haha! it's mine! all mine!" (shoulda thought about restocking! doh!). I'd also make a mental note of sizes and shapes of boxes, for the present feeling activities of mid to late December.

haha other way round. I did the traditional Amazon wishlist thing, but otherwise I spend much more time on buying presents for friends. I love doing that.

I never make lists, probably not since I was tiny. I have an Amazong wish list, but I really haven't put much thought into it.

Mine were always an excerise in daydreaming. I'd make lists of toys and then spend the run up to Christmas planning how I would play with them and tidying my room so they'd have nice places to live, telling other dolls not to be jealous etc.

Spot the only child.

i NEED new CD player/stereo effort, a gamecube (with all the right games), a DVD player, Sapphire and Steel DVD set, Robin of Sherwood DVD set, Spaced DVD set, a place to live, controlling shares in IBM, a new job, Caribbean cookery book, money, um, er, will that do?

I seem to remember wanting an E.T. sweatshirt and a body warmer. I got neither.

I did get a big ceramic E.T. pin with giant rhinestones for eyes...but it wasn't what I wanted.
