Had this happen once with a black cat sitting on my desk staring me down with glowing red eyes. Looked at it for a bit going "oh ok cool a cat... wait, that isnt MY cat, and I'm 3 floors up wtf wtf", sat up, looked harder... realised the "eyes" were the lights on my modem ;_;

But yeah for a full minute or so before i sat up, THAT CAT WAS THERE.

i usually try to prolong that feeling as long as it's comfortable, and then i move around as needed to shake it off

go back to dream world! prolong the feeling the inbetween state as long as possible. this is the best feeling in the world, and it's why i usually end up hitting the snooze 5-10 times every morning.

Yeah! I love it when you lie there in that bewildered twilight wondering if what you just dreamed happened or not, especially if it was a good dream.

I remember once I was riding the train and listening to an instrumental techno album on the headphones, and I was beginning to fall asleep, and I entered this inbetween-state, where I was still hearing the music, but all of a sudden everything in it was pregnant with meaning, like I knew exactly why the producer had decided to use that drum break and that synth sound, and what he meant to convey with them. Of course when I woke up, I couldn't remember any of these deep meanings.

I assume it was kinda similar to taking hallucinogenic drugs (which I've never done)...

Which inspired me to hunt down an interview w/ Kevin Shields that has been on my mind since I read it in 1994. He talks about how marijuana puts you in the hypnagogic state (hypnagogia is the phenomenon described in this thread), which affected his productivity.

In that article, the interviewer points out that it's been almost FOUR!! years since their last album. lol/sob

In college I took a 3-hour summer class that started at 8 a.m. on mornings after a 1/2-price wine Wednesday that I never missed. Trying to stay alert/awake was excruciating, and I would have little dreams while I was technically awake, with my eyes open. One regular "dream" was that I was seeing big, real-looking tendrils of smoke in the room. The first time I saw the smoke, it was coming off the guy who sat in front and to the left of me, and I was stunned at his nerve, actually smoking a cigarette in class.

my girl tried to wake me up this morning and i thought i was looking up at her from the bottom of a well. i was positive she was mocking me and it made me really angry and scared but she was mostly just trying to get me off the couch and to bed. And she was being real gentle about it too! But I couldn't accept this world as the real one and I resented having my sense of reality fucked with.
