Yeah exactly. Where we are now is nice, but not worth what we're paying, when we can pay less for a huge kitchen with modern fittings, for eg. I feel a bit "lol yeah first world problems" about it, hey I have a roof over my head stfu, but ffs I'm 40 and Ive spent half my life in poky flats, if I cant afford to buy I should at least be able to rent a nice place, I can afford it dammit.

Granted, half the problem is where I want to live, if we went out even into the closer suburbs we'd get a much nicer place but fuck who wants to live in Pascoe Vale.

Starting to wonder whether that is a pipe dream tbh. Looked at a flat in C4ulf13ld Nth, $430/wk, dog box, kitchen was part of the tiny living room, two tiny bedrooms, no laundry facility &c.

Ive found plenty of roomy places with seperate diing areas/kitchens, even 2 toilets/seperate laundries for 450, so its not that hard. its just a shit fight to get em.

But Im looking at villas/townhouses/houses. Im not even considering flats unless theyre hueg/have a terrace/courtyard. Not for that money. ffs I was paying $260 for a flat twice the size of my current house, only 3 years ago.

I quite like the Dove and Olive in Surry Hills but it has a tendency to be chockers. Round Newtown way there's the Town Hall hotel which has the bonus that I have lots of free drinks to use there (And a 2 for 1 cocktail voucher #lolcheaplife, and a large number of substantially more welcoming places. Union Hotel towards the western bit of Newtown is good for variety of beers.
