the pinefox, Wednesday, 4 September 2002 10:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 10:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Congrats PF does that mean we'll be seeing a bit more of you?

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 10:40 (twenty-three years ago)

yes TH but only if you help me with my next opus by telling me the true answers to my soufflé thread.

YJBT is in a vault in Madison, being analyzed by complex modern methods.

the pinefox, Wednesday, 4 September 2002 10:49 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah well done pf but did you remember the OCEAN LINER!!

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 10:51 (twenty-three years ago)

the pinefox, Wednesday, 4 September 2002 10:55 (twenty-three years ago)

All very mysterious! Well done pinefox! (I assume.)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 11:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Well done Dr. P F . I too hope that means we see you more often. I also hope that the editors don't dare mess you around too much.

David Moore (Mooro), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 11:35 (twenty-three years ago)

It's an enormous relief to discover than the PF is not (a) dead or (b) mad, but what's happened to his punctuation?

Mind you, emerging from a lengthy self-imposed exile to discover Tottenham on top of the Premiership must be deeply confusing to the fella. I think we owe PF a period of acclimatisation to this strange, inverted cultural landscape.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 11:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw a picture of Yootha Joyce in a magazine yesterday. They're doing a stage version of George and Mildred in Madrid. Perhaps this will boost PF's sales. Brian Murphy was in the picture too, I'd better mention him unless he gets jealous.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 12:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's The Year When The Toffees Return To Where They Belong: There Or Thereabouts.

Josh (Josh), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 14:49 (twenty-three years ago)

I've got a friend who looks a bit like Yootha Joyce but she didn't like it when I said it to her, strangely.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 14:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, would you like you're existence likened to that of a bit-part in an as yet unwritten Knock-Knock joke?

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 14:54 (twenty-three years ago)

hooray!

youn, Wednesday, 4 September 2002 15:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I will index it for free, there's added incentive (shyeah right).

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 22:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Free indexing is such a lusted after and rare commodity in society today.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 22:59 (twenty-three years ago)

nicole will you index my first book?!

Josh (Josh), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 23:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Wow, that's great, pinefox! Do you get to go on a book tour now?

rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 5 September 2002 00:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Josh, yes I will.

Nicole (Nicole), Thursday, 5 September 2002 10:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to write a book based on a single pubic hair. I'm thinking of calling it The 120 Days of Scrotum.

Andrew (enneff), Thursday, 5 September 2002 10:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Pinefox: even after three years of working with authors every day, I'm still impressed that anyone can do this -- especially in the humanities. Congratulations.

Are you at liberty to say who's publishing it? (I assume from the editing line that you proposed and contracted it some time ago.)

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 5 September 2002 14:39 (twenty-three years ago)

well done to the pinefox.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 5 September 2002 15:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Congratulations.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 11:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that the one??? I just looked it up on Amazon but I wasn't sure. Wow! Congratulations, let reJOYCEing be unconfined!

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 11:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Incidentally, I saw a strange woman on the tube reading one of The PF's brother's books the other day. The one about the Batman.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Congrats PF!

Exactly how was that woman strange?

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

"This hard-to-find book is subject to an extra handling charge of £1.99"

When did they bring that in?

Anyway, happy book, Foxy.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Well run, Bookfox.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

now, we must finish your book.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Three cheers for the Fox!

Jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 15:18 (twenty-one years ago)

That's really the Pinefox's brother?

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Was it really two years from completion to press? Yowch!

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 16:39 (twenty-one years ago)

JD: yes. Your thoughts are mine. But once it's out the delay doesn't seem to matter so much.

the firefox, Tuesday, 22 June 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Well done, Foxy.

Why has it got a picture of Morph's grandad on the cover?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

'accessibly written for both academic and lay readers'

Hooray! I thought I was going to be left out in favour of all those blasted lay readers.

Can we get this in the shops, or do we have to pay the 1.99 handling charge?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 17:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Hurrah for the Pinefox! :-) I hope to join your august ranks soon...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 17:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Congrats, dude, it's a nice feeling.

j e r e m y (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow, that's awesome! Go you!

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 19:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Miller: by the way: I would not like you, or anyone, to think that I wrote the bit of the blurb that mentioned 'lay readers'. That phrase is not in my vocabulary, until this post. I think my own blurb was heavily retouched to include such claims.

the junefox, Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I should advise stores, around glasgow, to take stock.

congrats.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

"hello, yes, do you have "joyce and stuff" by Dr. The Pinefox?

oh you do? marvellous.

my name?

Dr. The Pinefox...

:)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Carslime's last post has put in my head the idea of a song called 'Doctoring the Pinefox', which would be a mental Timelords/KLF style remix with Glitter Band drums of a Pines song.

Where?

In my head.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 10:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Carsmile, you wouldn't believe the number of English tourists who think it's funny to come into my shop and ask if we have Fly Fishing by J.R. Hartley.

Tossers.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:07 (twenty-one years ago)

'take stock'

the bellefox, Wednesday, 23 June 2004 11:11 (twenty-one years ago)
