Is this a wind up? I am moving to Greece NOW.

Emma, Wednesday, 4 September 2002 12:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I hear they've also banned football, Em. And made cake and clothes free on the NHS.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 13:02 (twenty-three years ago)

And they have taramasalata in buckets at the side of the road and the streets are paved with baklava. I'm off.

Emma, Wednesday, 4 September 2002 13:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Mmm, dirty baklava...

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 13:12 (twenty-three years ago)

unfortunately you have to eat a bucket of mash and hot toast to qualify for those NHS goodies

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 13:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Ooh, Emma, is baklava actually edible when made properly? I made it in Home Ec. as it was the only vegetarian non-icky thing in the Greek cookbook I was stuck with due to some Russian roulette book allocation system I don't remember at all. So yes, is it really a tasty treat, and not rubber encased gravel like how I made it?

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 13:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh god syrup drenched flaky pastry pistachio stuffed numminess thy name is baklava mmmmmmmmm it is the nummiest syrup, pastry and pistachio concoction known to mankind.

The Greeks would not eat hot toast they would eat hot pitta which is lovely.

Emma, Wednesday, 4 September 2002 13:39 (twenty-three years ago)

tonight i am making baba ganoush with lots of hot pit(t)a. num.

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 13:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Taking sides: pita vs pitta.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 13:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Tonight I shall weep at the state of the kitchen, probably make toast, and then sit in front of the telly wondering why I am a fatty.

Hmmmm.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 13:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha. Greece today. USA tomorrow.

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 15:51 (twenty-three years ago)

ron (ron), Wednesday, 4 September 2002 23:13 (twenty-three years ago)

it even applies to games that come on windows, up to 7500 dollar fine. they couldn't distinguish between harmless games and illegal gambling so they banned everything. genius.

Don't for get that "manly" instinct to kill and blow things up. What do you think would happen if they banned video games in the US? Would the US be more fun if we had more folks like SRL and not TRL? Blow up Carson Daliy and make him into iron man....

brg30 (brg30), Thursday, 5 September 2002 21:49 (twenty-three years ago)

The manly instinct comes from Duke Nukem, not from the man himself
