pink hair dye

i dyed my hair pink the other day... but it was a really crappy brand of not only dye but the bleach was pretty sad too... so now it's pinky orange... i want to do it again, but i don't know which brand to buy. i heard hot topic bleach is good and that fudge hair color is good, but i went to fudge's website and it washes out in "5-40 washes" so what is it... 5 or 40?

that's like 8 questions at once but anything related to this is appreciated...

Pink = punk. Does that help? Otherwise I am of no use.

for double-process color like you want it's important to bleach your hair completely first, otherwise the dye won't take and you get that orange tint. Go to a professional beauty supply store like Sally's or Ricky's or whatever they have where you live and use the 40-volume whachamacallit (the stuff that actually bleaches your hair -- it comes in 20, 30 and 40). Wear gloves. Put Vaseline on your neck and around your hairline. Don't leave it on so long that your scalp feels like it's going to burn off.

When your hair is properly stripped of color, any dye will take better, even semipermanent ones. The professional beauty supply stores probably sell a better quality of color than retail places like Hottopic, but maybe you should ask someone who appears to know where to get the color you want where they got it. Who to ask should be obvious. Good luck.

pink hair rules! i always wanted pink hair. the opportunity i had to have pink hair was ruined in a similar way by crap purchasing and bad products, so i ended up with red... which was cool & all, but it ain't pink. pink is the best.

i can't help.

Don't use fecking Schwarzkopf dye - it comes out with just WATER!! Grrrr.

My hair = bleached, then dyed red - hem hem ORANGE, then just put the rubbish Schwarzkopf dye on it and it's just rinsing out although it's supposed to be permanent. GRRR ARGHH.

Pink streaks in red hair. Classic or dud? (i.e. shall I?)

Anna, Thursday, 5 September 2002 09:40 (twenty-three years ago)

as for 5-40 washes = it depends on the color. if it's a deep red, bank on 40. if it's a blue or purple, i would estimate around 15-30. as for pink, i would say 5-20 depending on how pale the color is (the darker the color, the longer it'll stay in, generally.) i would recommend special effects for staying power. (why do i still know this stuff?)

yes Anna! pink streaks in red hair would be excellent (even if "classic" isn't quite the word).
