til the power failure (darraghmac), Friday, 13 January 2012 17:49 (fourteen years ago)

This is too much of a Sophie's Choice poll.

Nicole, Friday, 13 January 2012 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

i could potentially vote for just about any episode in s2 or s3 except maybe "new jack city" but will probably vote for "flight into terror." favorite moment overall though is all of the priests having to escape out of the department store lingerie section, which i think is the first part of "going to america"?

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 13 January 2012 17:51 (fourteen years ago)

DAMN YOU

ENBB, Friday, 13 January 2012 17:52 (fourteen years ago)

I haven't seen all of these but I'm leaning towards "A Song For Europe"

YES

ENBB, Friday, 13 January 2012 17:56 (fourteen years ago)

'Think Fast, Father Ted' - the whole episode from start to finish is so well put together.

Priests in the lingerie department is A Christmassy Ted, iirc.

brb, watching all the episodes again.

Though New Jack Swing is great! The more so if you know Brendan Grace beforehand, perhaps.

I admit I cannot wait to foist these on my girlfriend. Thank you Netflix Instant.

which one ends with them bailing out mrs doyle? may be my fav fr ted scene

til the power failure (darraghmac), Friday, 13 January 2012 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

i think that's The Mainland

caek, Friday, 13 January 2012 18:21 (fourteen years ago)

That would be 'The Mainland'.

insert 2012 appropriate display name here (snoball), Friday, 13 January 2012 18:21 (fourteen years ago)

It is cause it's the one where they go shopping and she meets up with a friend and loses her glasses, right? Wait - is that the same as the lingerie store one?

ENBB, Friday, 13 January 2012 18:22 (fourteen years ago)

i was pretty sure that lingerie store was going to america, because the position in america was a reward for getting the priests out without being seen?

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 13 January 2012 18:23 (fourteen years ago)

but ailsa is right and it is the christmas special

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 13 January 2012 18:24 (fourteen years ago)

xxp Different episode to the lingerie store. And it's Jack that loses his glasses (the scene in the optician's where he aces the eye test chart by saying "DRINK!" and it's reveaed that the chart was sponsored by Guiness or something, and every line on it is 'D-R-I-N-K')

Position in America is a reward for talking the depressed priest from jumping off a ledge.

Might have to re-watch them all before deciding, The Mainland, A Christmassy Ted and Flight Into Terror early favourites.

surprised more people aren't saying "a song for europe" since that's the canonical "best episode" right?

'Kicking Bishop Brennan Up the Arse', but they are all really really funny.

phuturephase, Saturday, 14 January 2012 16:34 (fourteen years ago)

I have a love for 'Good Luck, Father Ted' after visiting an ILXor outside Dublin and the directions to their house being remarkably similar to how Ted gets the TV crew to meet him by using Tom as a reference point.

I voted for Speed 3 but most of these would trump the best episode of most other sitcoms.

The one with the sheep competition is the one I've watched most often, so that. There's at least half a dozen that are right up there with it though.

old grey whistle was also good, just for father damien

Summer Slam! (Ste), Sunday, 15 January 2012 12:58 (fourteen years ago)

and the scene with the swearing censoring at the park

Summer Slam! (Ste), Sunday, 15 January 2012 12:59 (fourteen years ago)

I did see and get reminded of the least good scene of FT.

Where they find a baby left on their doorstep, but it gets claimed immediately by a woman.

At which point, Ted and Dougal laugh about the 'hilarious' escapades that would have ensured, before deciding that it wouldn't have been funny at all.

Which made me think "That's the writers getting wayyy too pleased with themselves there."
