gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Saturday, 14 January 2012 16:58 (fourteen years ago)

should I be watching this show? I've seen every ep of storage wars that is on netflix so far.

tinker tailor soldier sb (silby), Saturday, 14 January 2012 17:35 (fourteen years ago)

I like it better than Storage Wars, which was a little to focused on macho dudes competing for crap (at least in the first few eps of the first season - does that weird dude get more airtime later on? He was the best part). But yeah, if you like that kind of thing, it's p entertaining.

The experts are the best part, IMO.

Oh yeah, Barry is basically half the show now (as he should be).

mark hall-patton is my dude, but rebecca romney's a babe and has one of the coolest jobs around. tough poll

maghrib is back (Hungry4Ass), Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:47 (fourteen years ago)

Danny Koker vs. Mark Hall-Patton, imo.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

Show would be 200% better without the dumb scripted interludes, but it's addicting tv anyway.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 14 January 2012 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

Danny need to accept and embrace his receding hairline.

Danny Koker vs. Mark Hall-Patton, imo.

^ This. Went with Koker as his restorations always turn out awesome, but I think Mark Hall-Patton is the most all-round knowledgeable guy on the show.

__CB__, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:28 (fourteen years ago)

yeah patton can get called in for anything. hes like winston wolf

sometimes i try to figure out how knowledgeable rick really is. im guessing researchers are feeding him stuff for the interview segments, but he does seem like a dude who is really curious about the world around him and knows his stuff. seems like hed be a cool dude to chill with

Rick has been on Letterman a couple times and says all he did when he was a kid was read books, and when he was out of regular books he moved to encyclopedias. He's definitely an inquisitive guy.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 14 January 2012 23:54 (fourteen years ago)

Danny v. Mark, went with Danny.

I would watch a show that was all about Danny and his shop doing custom work. The show always gets a little bit better when he's on.

The episode with the dude trying to sell his junkyard Porsche engine was great; thought Danny was going to start hammering on the guy at any moment. The look on his face and the turning and pacing were awesome.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Saturday, 28 January 2012 00:01 (fourteen years ago)

Tough call, but I'd narrow it down to these three:

Drew Max - He looks like David Bowie! And he rolls with an big ass magnifying glass to look at all those signatures.

Mark-Hall Patton - I don't know where his face ends and his beard begins. He seems super knowledgeable though. I just wish he would give a damn price!!!

Sean Rich - I like this style. The cargo shorts, Tortuga training shirts, slicked back hair and gold chain. And the guns, knows so much about the guns.

Jeff, Saturday, 28 January 2012 02:13 (fourteen years ago)

Rick Dale though, he got his own show out of this. And it doesn't have the "it's worth 10,000 so that's what I want - I'll give you 200" bit.

StanM, Saturday, 28 January 2012 05:22 (fourteen years ago)

Tony Dee – Antique firearms expert.

i don't know what this show is, but this guy sounds like a really cool dude

if you ever leave me peggy, leave some propane at my door (zachlyon), Saturday, 28 January 2012 06:18 (fourteen years ago)

This show is about a pawn shop in Las Vegas, NV. It focuses on people who come in to pawn or sell things, often things of historical as well as monetary value. The owner of the pawn shop calls in experts to authenticate and value the items and then you get to see him haggle with the person who brought the item into the shop. There are subplots involving the three generations of dudes who work at the shop, and if somebody sells them a projectile weapon, there's a roughly 90% chance they will go shoot it at the end of the show.

So it's kind of like Antiques Roadshow x American Choppers x a show where people shoot/drive things (but not as fucking unwatchable as American Choppers).

I watched a bunch of these the last time I visited my parents and LOVED it. Getting cable soon - what channel is it on?

ENBB, Saturday, 28 January 2012 18:38 (fourteen years ago)

The star of the show is the guy on the right here imo:

StanM, Saturday, 28 January 2012 18:40 (fourteen years ago)

Is that Chumley & bob Dylan?

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 28 January 2012 18:57 (fourteen years ago)

it is indeed.

StanM, Saturday, 28 January 2012 18:57 (fourteen years ago)

that's great.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 28 January 2012 19:00 (fourteen years ago)

ENBB, I think it's on the History channel, but the first two or three seasons are on Netflix streaming. There are approximately 1,000 episodes per season so you have plenty to catch up on.

ha, every time I go to my parents all I do is watch this, American Pickers, Storage Wars, Antiques Roadshow, etc.

an a drive (los blue jeans), Monday, 30 January 2012 23:56 (fourteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

This is my new Netflix reality mind-muter, the only thing I don't like is how he explains how pawning works every single episode so far. Hopefully that ends by somewhere around episode 30.
