SMASH: like Glee for adults, or something... starring Grace from WIll & Grace, Anjelica Huston, and the chick who lost to Taylor Hicks

So this officially premiers on February 6th, but the Pilot is available for free download on iTunes and I totally love it! Not sure if it'll survive an entire season, but I kind of hope it does... Anyway, NBC has a lot banking on this show, and given everyone involved and all of the guest stars lined up for this (Uma Thurman!) it should be very entertaining while it lasts.

I didn't watch AI the season Taylor Hicks won, but I saw Katherine McPhee enough to know she's mad hot. Even if the show sucks, I'll watch it a few times.

Very good! I'm not really a fan of Glee, though I did watch the first season... SMASH is a lot more realistic and a lot less cloying.

after being inundated with ads i'm a little curious. at least to figure out what the setup is: is it a show about a musical, or is it a musical show about a musical? are the two leads competing for the same part, or is the musical about the 'two sides' of marilyn, like that one hbo movie?

please somebody tell me!

whenever anybody says 'insoucient grin' I think of Sessue Hayakawa playing a villain

it's two leads competing for the part, and it's not really a musical because all of the songs appear in the context of someone giving an actual performance or audition for the musical the shows about, but they do lots of full-length songs within the show, sometimes with stylized little fantasy sequences while the person's singing.

I liked the pilot, even if I much prefer Hilty to McPhee for the role in the musical itself; I can't really see Monroe as a belter.

this show is totally stupid and awful and I want to slap everyone on it except for mcphee, but I watch it every week.
