omg i've been watching on netflix TOO. what fucking season are you up to i am so happy you started this

i used to be like #1 fan but the show got so horrible in season 3-4. i can't even pick a favorite character because they are all the worst.

i agree that the 1st season/2nd season were on another level but tbh in soap opera land i think it maintained its game just fine

might have to vote for lil in all honesty

watching old episodes of gossip girl in 2012 is unfathomable, even more unfathomable than watching new episodes, or just watching it at all

im like middle of season three, mostly i just watch when ari is watching while we make dinner or whatever so ive missed some chunks... i guess its dropped in quality but man its so much better than any other primetime soap in the last 10 years that i can forgive it.

i love it b/c even though its a soap its so low-stakes, like i never get stressed out or worried about the characters at all

i don't believe that 'leighton meester', 'blake lively', or 'penn badgley' are real people

ya the first half of the first season sets the show up as if its just going to be OC in new york (serena as micha barton, blair as summer, caleb as bart, rufus as sandy, dan as a combo of seth and ryan) but it breaks out of that mold pretty thoroughly

Watching it back, the first series is arguably the best.

It's the supporting characters (Dorota, Eric, Georgina, etc) that have kept it a cut above the competition, imo.

again, based solely on the first season, dan is absolutely the worst.

The Vampire Diaries is the only show on the CW that is not in danger of being cancelled, apparently. Countdown to the cancellation of the entire network, probably. Can't imagine they can run on post-Twilight mass hysteria alone.

tbf i think 'gossip girl' is one of the most popular shows to stream/download so its published ratings arent the best gauge of its actual popularity

nate - occasionally mentions school every now and again
blair - get her mrs and dropped out
vanessa - i think shes supposed to be doing a 'year abroad' so is presumably still in school but who cares
serena - was 'taking time off' to do internships or s.thing? i guess once she slept with the only former underwear model teaching at columbia there wasnt much left for her to do there

dan i cant remember if he dropped out or not, at the beginning of the season he kept mentioning school but now hes an author so i guess he dropped out? i think its still an unresolved plot point...
