Apparently. While walking around today used the phone thinking "just a bit of drizzle, let's be cool" but apparently it was enough to cause damage to the wifi antenna, probably came in through the open headphone jack.

Hm. I went to plug it into the charger in another room, where the base is, and it worked again, although missing one concentric arc of signal strength, but it didn't work at all in this room where other devices get a good signal. So maybe some damage but still sort of working. And here I was looking for an excuse to upgrade from this old running out of memory 3GS

Other weird thing is that being plugged in boosts the reception, as is the charger cable acts as an antenna.

Either that or the little extra juice makes the phone's antenna work better.

computers are dark magic, you can find out tho if you actually got water damage by trying to get it fixed at the apple store, they will check the water damage indicator device that lives inside your phone for water damage, if it is activated they will charge you $1700 for a new phone
