Tomorrow's high in Dawson City: -31°, with a low of -38°.

I'd love to visit there someday, though not in the middle of winter.

Anyone been there?

I've been to the Dawson City Music Festival, in July. Great, strange place. Spent some fleeting moments helicoptering through the jawdropping Tombstone mountains, but otherwise didn't get into the countryside.

Wrote about the music and the feelings for the festival - pdfs here if you're curious!

I love northern places so I'd happily go up there. In summer or in winter! (Though not when it's so cold that you can't enjoy being outdoors)

Spent a couple weeks there (and Alaska) in late summer 1985. Some of the most surreal (and amazing!) road tripping I've ever done. Whitehorse was intriguing - kinda wish I spent more time there instead of at Watson Lake, but when the sun is still blazing at 9 at night my tendency was to just keep driving.

The signpost forest at Watson Lake is cool outsider art:

dawson city is lovely. i was there in june a couple years ago, and there's 24 hour sun and beautiful views and lots of fun places to drink. i have a few friends who work there in the summer and then live there through the winter, which is madness to me.
