let's be honest, sheetz needs to be an option here

100% Wawa, but I live in a Royal Farms neighborhood. : (

frogify bool sheet (beachville), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 11:05 (fourteen years ago)

there is a weird weekly gathering of middle-aged men with fords on sunday mornings in our RF parking lot. It has been rumored that they are white supremacists.

frogify bool sheet (beachville), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 11:08 (fourteen years ago)

Royal Farms for the Berger Cookies and the fried chicken.

Three Word Username, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 11:10 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I don't even care what they have in stock because at most I'm going in for a Pepsi Max and a Megamillions. For me, this vote is about interior decor/ambience.

frogify bool sheet (beachville), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 12:53 (fourteen years ago)

You are a primitive savage.

Three Word Username, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:02 (fourteen years ago)

I was also swayed by Wawa's use of geese.

I'm surrounded by Royal Farms. Pretty decent fried chicken if you can get it fresh. I've probably only been to two Wawas, but they seemed nicer and cleaner so they get my vote.

Would've voted Sheetz had it been an option.

circa1916, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:23 (fourteen years ago)

Sheetz are usually great too, but for some reason they don't want to enter the Baltimore/DC market?

frogify bool sheet (beachville), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:28 (fourteen years ago)

Royal Farms has pretty much saturated Baltimore at this point. Wouldn't be an easy market to weasel into I imagine.

circa1916, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:34 (fourteen years ago)

Wawa

But there was only one Royal Farms in my life prior to my leaving the mid-Atlantic area and other than one dreadful attempt to purchase cigarettes there while on acid, I didn't have much interaction with it.

gonna give her the old fuquay-varina (Jenny), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:34 (fourteen years ago)

xp: yeah, but if they were aggressive about their shit, Sheetz could weasel them out. They've got a strong enough reputation.

The corner store I remember most strongly from my childhood was High's. In the 80s, it seemed like there was a High's everywhere.

frogify bool sheet (beachville), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:02 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah! High's was definitely the convenience store of my youth. Don't see too many of those any more.

High's! Yes! My mom always stopped at this one High's near my high school because they carried her preferred brand of milk (Lewes Dairy).

50 stores listed there but they number up to 130.

frogify bool sheet (beachville), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:01 (fourteen years ago)

Was just coming here to name check High's. Awesome.

But b/t these two? Wawa. Deli was untouchable back in the day - I suspect because it was from the Philly area orig, and they know from deli in Philly.

Sauvignon Blanc Mange (B.L.A.M.), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:04 (fourteen years ago)

A teenage clerk at the High's in Edgewater got arrested for selling weed there last year. Can you imagine how much "We're going to ... ♪♫ HIGH'S ♪♫" there used to be?

frogify bool sheet (beachville), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:06 (fourteen years ago)

Is the High's on West Street in Annapolis across from the mall gone? Went to the one in Crownsville last trip back to the states -- was a little scary, but they still have Berger's cookies and really good ice cream.

Three Word Username, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:11 (fourteen years ago)

At least two of the High's stores on that list are definitely closed and their web page is copyrighted 2009. Might be a lot less than 50 open by now.

circa1916, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:12 (fourteen years ago)

any of them next to a lowe's?

am0n, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:14 (fourteen years ago)

wawa needs to make inroads to some city turf if they really wanna compete w/ rf

am0n, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:19 (fourteen years ago)

didn't include sheetz bc i don't think i've ever even seen one. don't spend enough time in PA apparently

It would be easy to misinterpret harbl's comment to mean she got death-ass from eating RF's food.

Voted Wawa, and man do I miss them. Convenience stores in California don't have cheap, shitty and sugary iced coffee or big salty pretzels so fuck 'em.
