I was going to suggest the Rising Sun (easy to find) if there were only a few of us but if there are several coming, maybe we should go for the Bricklayer's Arms? All the ones on TCR itself are likely to be very busy on a Friday lunchtime, so this (tucked away off any thoroughfares as it is) seems a decent bet. I think most ILE people know where it is and Pete mentioned recently that its refurbishment is complete and it has reopened.

PUB ETIQUETTE POST: We're looking at about 10-12 attendees, which is about £15-£20 per round assuming that not everyone will need a drink at the same time. I overestimated the round size a bit - assuming you're buying for half the FAP goers it shouldnt be more than £12, it being a Sam Smiths pub (difference in incomes among FAPgoers is one reason we choose Sam Smiths too!)

Tim - assuming everyone gets theirs in. Actually the maths doesn't quite work out if its 12 rounds of 6 each. 12 rounds of 8 each (2/3-rounds) probably approximates an avg evening's drinking better.

Nick I am offended by your post. In one of two ways. Firstly if I am counte as young, then it's just plain WRONG because I have spent a fortune buying people drinks because I normally drink shorts, but cannot sip them in a ladylike way (see Emma and Suzy), but knock them back too fast and loose my purse. The latest purse was destroyed two weeks ago when my friend Lucas spilled red wine all over it. It had to be thrown away and my switch card is covered in red splashes. People keep looking at it with suspicion, but I'm on issue 7 already and I'm too embarrassed to ask for another one.

I watched the towers tumble repeatedly in slow motion, had one eye on Revolutionary Road to write a piece for CoM, thought about proposing a Dancehall Primer for the Wire (if one hasn't already done), listened to the S'Babes album for the 98th time this week, taped the Scooter CD for Simon R. Bedtime reading: 1985 by Anthony Burgess. Bedtime lullaby: I Am Sitting In A Room by Alvin Lucier - makes me feel I am somewhere else, somewhere better.

I started watching the 9/11 thing on BBC, then had to abandon it when I became convinced that new family kitten has escaped into the garden. Stuck a tape in to record 9/11 and spent panicky 20 minutes in garden. Just deciding how to break news to kids ("she's not lost, just...erm") when she appeared from under the piano.
