outside of the donald trump factor I don't think I'm philosophically against things like this happening. they're not knocking it down and it's not like a hotel is better or worse than retail/office space.

Yeah honestly if you've actually been to the Old Post Office Pavilion it's already basically a food court/mall/office complex so I don't see this as a problem

I'm not against this at all. Buildings are buildings. Fuck 'em. It's when they start thinking they can do the same to parks and wildlife refuges and shit that I get upset.

Of course, the reason I'm currently in this crappy, disused law firm office space is that my historic building is getting a full historical restoration elsewhere in D.C. Hmm...
