When they first started the change, I was disgusted.......it seemed corny, obvious and overcalculated, and given how much I hated the old TNN, I was sure they'd botch whatever crossover they were trying to pull......and i'm no smiley ILM shmuck that gives every lost bastard a chance, like, "Stephan Jenkins' contributions to Run DMC have improved them twofoldZ0r!!!" so's they can get some cultural objectivity and reclamation badge.....when I see someone pulling some shadyfake get-with-it-quick scheme like the bloody Corn Pops skateboarders, I'll crucify his ass just to see his hands shake.....fuck your life.
But TNN has proved me wrong.....the transition has been so comprehensive, even the "tone" of the station is upended......even the stoner cult fodder for 18-27 programming moves are transparent but done so astutely and noone else is doing it.....I am impressed.
Search: The Steve commercials (the vegas ones are getting weak but I have faith)......marathoning LA Streetfighter (!!), Bloodsport, A-Team, Robocop, River's Edge.......buying rights to CSI past seasons.....playing the ironic programming angle just right.
Destroy: Slamball (what a disappointment!), those horrible ads for Godfather 1 and 2 showing uncut (an awesome and noble move, but the ads had a huge ass RAVE with all these Skechers looking fools mouthing the words to the movie to hook the younger kids....so corny I covered my ears, closed my eyes and screamed on my couch (i do this often, also when singers fuck up the anthem at ballgames)).
Et tu?

I've been trying to contact their staff with some advice, too.......namely: try to replace Real TV with Max X and give Max X funding; buy the rights to and franchise the "Super Shorts" with the chimpanzees that Superstation has right now (i applaud Superstation for doing it, but they don't do it often enough); marathon Rad, Heathers, Encino-Man next; GET RID OF "reevolution of sports" (the x-sport boat is gone gone gone) and Battle bots.

I miss that old "You Can Be A Country Star" show they had on the old TNN. I like the Monster Truck Rallies, rodeos, and Raw. I hadn't noticed the movies they've been showing; if I see Bloodsport I just assume I'm watching USA (which in the late 80s/early 90s was better than TNN will ever be).

I forgot Miami Vice; that's cool. And destroy fucking Star Trek, someone please!

i watched slamball once and thought it was pretty entertaining for about 15 mins. it may not hold up longer than that, dunno.
their robot fighting show has an edge over the comedy central one. the house bots are really cool looking and kick ass and don't follow the rules, plus the overall destruction level is greater. downside is that wrestling dude.

Weekly Star Trek marathons=classic, it balances out the Baywatch and the wrestling. The A-Team is a brilliant move too. I do like the overall aesthetic, which seems to be picking shows that large groups of people LIKE, no matter how good/bad or old they might be.
