I was having a conversation with someone about Maidstone the other day - not you Anna. Oh yeah, my cousin lives there and she has had to move out because her rent has gone up too much. Apparently very popular with people who used to live in Clapham and found it too urban.

Blimey RickyT, i was so going to say that too. oh what's the point of me.

Is it anything like Ashford or Tunbridge Wells? I can talk about them.

One assumes Art Attack may also be from the area massively increasing its general attractiveness to young buyers.

(People also believe Kent = Garden of England without realising Garden = Place where cats piss).

Pete (Pete), Monday, 9 September 2002 11:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Guardian, remember.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 9 September 2002 11:23 (twenty-three years ago)

N: wot?

Tim (Tim), Monday, 9 September 2002 11:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Like most of middle bit of Kent, its a hellhole.

Why do you need to know?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 9 September 2002 12:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Of course it is the place where the Stone Roses played their first gig - as later commemorated in a later song.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 9 September 2002 13:35 (twenty-three years ago)

I was informed by someone on ILE that it was originally 'Guardian of England' and got corrupted to 'Garden of England' over the years.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 9 September 2002 13:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Nick, did Pete tell you that?

Tim (Tim), Monday, 9 September 2002 13:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Guardian Of England = It is full of crap, so it still works.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 9 September 2002 13:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha yes and a typo.
