Ow that's harsh.

But I had to pick Jack, just for Oliver Twist/Pufnstuff. I mean. ARTFUL DODGER.

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 1 March 2012 04:35 (thirteen years ago)

Definitely not intending to be harsh. I guess DJ was there first but they hav similarities in looks and dancing styles...in my conflated kid brain I thought the Dodger in Oliver was a younger DJ. Voted Wild because I saw him first and thought it looked like fun to be an orphan and wear shabby clothes but with a sense of style.

THEY WERE BOTH ARTFUL DODGERSES!

I know but Wild was in the movie.

Caught a bit on cable a few years ago - hadn't seen it since I was ver small - and noticed that Fagin seemed more like a creepy pedo than a delightful old man.

iirc, both Phil Collins and Steve Marriott played the dodger in the early 60s.

Wow. It would be amazing to see footage of either of those productions. Well maybe about 5-10 minutes, can't take those songs.

I didn't realize DJ was Dodger too, that makes sense.

Jack Wild was a pretty damn spiffy dancer

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 1 March 2012 05:37 (thirteen years ago)

Not only was DJ the Artful Dodger, he and the B'way cast of Oliver performed on the Ed Sullivan Show the night the Beatles made their US debut. WHEELS WITHIN WHEELS.

Not much of a singer though. Also he was one of those youthful types who just looked weird as he got older, Davy always looked good.

This is something that a member of The Monkees has in common with a member of Crass, then.

Mark G, Thursday, 1 March 2012 11:39 (thirteen years ago)

That's an xpost about the TV show, not the 'looking good' thing, aha and lol.

Mark G, Thursday, 1 March 2012 11:39 (thirteen years ago)

JackW had a lot of 'health issues', let's put it that way..

Mark G, Thursday, 1 March 2012 11:40 (thirteen years ago)
